ann so sorry to hear about the trauma of your friend dying. You and his family wll be in my thoughts as I tend my plants and flowers today,

soop that leg is looking good. I can see a great improvement and new tissue granulating nicely. Keep it rested though. Don't run before you can walk as they say. And how is the throat and mouth by the way?

Greyduster I am relieved your news at the CC was good. As for your weariness MawBroon I hope it lifts a little. Probably not much help to you but I have just left a rich tea loaf in the kitchen with home made butter, so dig in before everyone else polishes it off.

At last we have the decorator in following ongoing repairs and stuff from a roof leak in November. Will be so good to get straight, although this has not been on a par with a certain gransnetters building experiences!!

This morning we have one lost and lonely duckling on the river. No sign of mum for a couple of days. It is however, charging around like a dodgem car chasing flies so providing the magpies and crows leave it alone there is hope.

I note they start counting at 10:00 in our county elections but that is as far as I am prepared to go in political postings and having learned my lesson about political threads on here, I shall stay warm and cosy and relaxed in this kitchen apart from my forays into the garden today. Lots to do followed by ? Later. Always a possibility of a lovely outdoor? Too if I have time.

gq, take heart! My first GD was a surly and uncommunicative young teenager. However, she slowly came out of her chrysalis and is now a lovely, affectionate adult with a partner and a puppy! Younger GD, now 14, went through puberty very early - had a few tantrums then! But now she has so much going on in her life, including school, that she always has a lot to tell me - that is, when she isn't dashing out of the door to one of her many activities!

Swanny Fri 05-May-17 09:42:44

soop hie thee to thy physick with all haste grin

Maw you sound the way I'm feeling so do you mind if I sit quietly with you?

I've had DGS a lot since the operation on his 'nuggets' last week and I'm weary too. He's not allowed to over-exert himself, which includes no swimming for 4-6 weeks. He went back to school (thankfully!) yesterday and DS gave them the list of what he can't do, but Friday afternoons his class goes to the pool, so I shall be collecting him at 1pm. His parents usually have a meal out or drink with friends on a Friday so I would normally collect him at 3.30 anyway till they collect him between 8 and 9pm. However, tonight they are going to the theatre so will be much later. Maybe tonight will be the night DGS decides to sleep in my bed again - I do hope so grin

Greyduster Fri 05-May-17 12:10:06

Izabella! You make your own butter? I am in awe. Double awe, in fact! I hope your little duck finds its mum. We were walking last year from Calver up the river toward Froggat and we similarly concerned for a duckling that seemed to be lost. We actually watched him swimming on the opposite side and I thought perhaps the mum was up at Froggatt bridge somewhere as there is usually a gathering of ducks there, but no. In the end, he turned round and drifted back down on the current. I couldn't stop thinking about him all day. Silly, I know, but he was so tiny.
Swanny even when GC are not exerting themselves they can be exhausting. Mine has it down to a fine art! I am glad your GS is recovering. DS had a torsion down there when he was young and was in a lot of pain. He spent a night in the hospital and fortunately they managed to correct it without the need for surgery, but it was worrying.
Maw I am sending you a {{hug}}.
DH has just asked me whether I have taken his new purchase out of the box yet. I told him no but I give it a little wave when I walk past it!

PoshGran Fri 05-May-17 12:18:13

Morning/Afternoon one & all. Beautiful breezy Cambridgeshire morning here so laundry/gardening duties accomplished. OH has a "friend round to play" (model trains - yawn); I'm sneaking a few minutes of peace before lunch duties, may I join you in the corner Maw & Swanny?
I was very lucky with my own DD gq but have experienced the "delights" of a few teenage girls in my former career. Attitudes are so naturally mercurial & they have tremendous difficulty winding back & expressing regret at what has been said etc. As you say, hang in there.smile

Izabella Fri 05-May-17 12:22:12

Gd sadly not. It was delivered first thing by a farmer friends wife. They are experimenting. I gave them an A*. Nothing like anything you buy. Wonderful.

cornergran Fri 05-May-17 13:33:52

I hope the peaceful, warm space isnt too crowded. Please mawb, swanny and poshgran can I squeeze in too? More than overwhelmed with 'stuff happening', last straw was a struggle with blood test results. Just no more energy for fighting, organising and above all being reasonable. I don't think I can be reasonable ever again! Still, a quiet sit, a brew or two to see me through to wine time should sort it for now. Sorry, like mawb said, I can't summon words right now, apologies all.

Bellanonna Fri 05-May-17 14:51:19

So sorry corner and mawb. I might join you and look out at the sea. Weeks of bug very wearing, as many will also know. So tired can hardly stand at times. Feel pathetic. Hurts to talk so I won't be chatty but that view, shown to us many times by soop is wonderful. Might stay for the sunset. Well, it's sunny(ish) down here today! Hope you all get some respite. Hugs etc

Bellanonna Fri 05-May-17 14:54:30

soop. I'm so sorry. How is that oral infection? Are the meds helping? You've got a lot to put up with. izabella wrote a lovely positive post, from a professional viewpoint, so it sounds as tho the leg is on the mend. Good news.

annsixty Fri 05-May-17 15:09:47

I will join you in crowding in a huddle.
cornergran make an apt to see the practice manager and tell him/her what you expect in the future, I did, and things got moving very quickly.
My H is extremely difficult today, I think the effects of the last few days have unsettled him.
I am upset as my friend' s D and GD have put a cordon of steel around her and are repulsing all comers. I don't know if we will be expected to upset her. I feel that at nearly 80 I have dealt with enough bereaved people to know how to behave.
I had to go to the bank this morning so nipped into Asda foe essentials, NOT my favourite shop.
H is very put out and cant understand why I wouldn't walk the extra half mile to Aldi.I have told him if that is how he feels I will start online shopping. He is without his favourite Aldi chocolate and I will not hear the last of it until I get some.
I have txtd my S to ask him to get us a takeawsy tonight.he will hate that, we haven't had one for years as he doesn't approve. So childish of me I know but I am at the end of my patience today.

morethan2 Fri 05-May-17 15:35:08

I feel really miffed. Look at the size of the packaging for a 1/2 pint bottle. Talk about waste. Oops I sound a bit victor meldrewish. I best put on a smile and go collect grandchildren.

thatbags Fri 05-May-17 16:07:39

soop tells me she is broadbandless so I'm just popping in to let You Lot know. We are both experiencing lovely sunny weather here in Argyll.

cornergran Fri 05-May-17 16:31:41

Oh dear, a lot of fed up-ness about today. Thanks, ann, I will do just that when I can find the space and have a more even temper. I am sad that you can't get to see your friend, she will understand that the wall has been built and I imagine can't summon he energy to get it taken down. All you can do is leave a card, a note or even text her if she has a mobile. She will know you care and are thinking about her. You know, I like many things from Aldi but I truly dislike their chocolate. Aren't we all different? That's me done for today. Take care all, try for something for yourself in what's left of today. here's hoping that tomorrow is brighter for all us withdrawn people.

Greyduster Fri 05-May-17 17:18:06

I do hope soop is reconnected soon! What is it with all this technology? It's a pain in the howsyerfather!! I stopped waving at the new iPad and managed (pat on the back) to transfer all the stuff on the old one onto the new one, and everything worked - except the email. I have been fiddling about all afternoon trying to find out why. The air has been blue. I will now wait until DS gets home and plague him with the problem if I haven't thrown this bloody thing through the window first! It sounds as if we all need a stiff drink!

wot Fri 05-May-17 17:52:03

Grey, ?

PoshGran Fri 05-May-17 18:05:14

Have been able to have a "gentle" (entirely selfish) afternoon watching garden birds & doing a bit of research on 'puter.
Thanks thatbags for update on soops broadbandlessness. morethan looks like some of the packaging was of the big bags of air type - not so much fun as bubble wrap which is great for venting frustration at so much packaging. wink
Happy Hour has arrived! Let's brush the crumbs of the day away, say "S*d it" & have something alcoholical!wine & wine
Peaceful evenings one & all.

aggie Fri 05-May-17 18:09:05

Wish I wasn't t totalsad

PoshGran Fri 05-May-17 18:37:07

Sparkling water & fruit juice aggie? wink

Tizliz Fri 05-May-17 20:46:58

greyduster I had to delete my email account and start again on my new ipad. Just make sure you make a note of the settings first.

I am feeling tired now, vacuumed and cleaned the inside of the car, cut the edges in the garden and made fish cakes for dinner ? Had to throw them away last month as they were awful so very pleased they were wonderful today

Greyduster Fri 05-May-17 21:27:28

Tizliz I did that in the end, and it worked, thank goodness. We are now up and running, but I feel as if I have wasted a whole afternoon on it. Hey ho!
Poshgran let us brush the crumbs of the day away. I so love that!
Enough of iPads and the like, now. Where's the corkscrew?

Tizliz Sat 06-May-17 09:02:41

Beautiful morning here, sun shining, birds singing, chainsaw on full blast next door, no water, internet on go slow. And OH stilled dragged me out of bed

Charleygirl Sat 06-May-17 10:01:57

What has happened to your water supply Tizliz?

The sun is shining here, the washing is out and one would think that I lived in the heart of the country, instead of not far from Heathrow.

thatbags Sat 06-May-17 10:04:10

Just had a message from soop who is still on an internetless desert island.

Bellanonna Sat 06-May-17 10:05:22

Give her our love bags

thatbags Sat 06-May-17 11:13:17
