Right, I've found £17 of premium bonds that Mum had, not sure I can be bothered to cash those in but will have a go if it helps the fund. We also have a TSB account passbook with £26 which the bank say they can't trace confused but the interest on that should be worth a bob or two. What's the fund at now?

The astroturf reminded me of letting DS2 pick the decor for his bedroom. The walls were all Nottingham Forest Red and he asked for astroturf instead of carpet. The cost way back then was astronomical so he had to make do with green carpet! grin

I bet Flynn enjoys seeing your face Maw!

Yesterday, I rang up to talk to my sister in law but she had a cold so was too poorly to come to the phone confused and then spoke to DD2 for a while who said that Lottie (3 years old) wanted to speak to me. I said 'Hi Lottie, how are you?' Lottie said 'Is pa there?' Billy no mates, me!!

HELLO SOOP!!

Who needs a hot tub or a jacuzzi?
In my day a curry followed by a bubble bath did the trick grin
I was so grateful to read all your pearls of wisdom this morning and feel I can smile again! A bit like the effect Terry Wogan on the radio used to have - "normalising".
Just to say word must have got out in the village that Grace is no longer here-I woke up to the sight of a big ginger cat sitting on our pergola at the bottom of the garden. Such cheek! Cat lovers, fear not, it would have been in the next county before she reached it, but it might have made her ears prick up.
Trying hard to think of other things. Half an hour of FaceTime with Flynn as he trashed DD's kitchen was a good start. I do get put off by that little square in the corner with this saggy old bag-jowled old biddy though. Enough to scare the horses.

annsixty Wed 10-May-17 09:39:51

Sorry, nomow!

annsixty Wed 10-May-17 09:37:33

Don't be too hasty you keen gardeners, my S has been doing some gardening for a builder friend ( hooray) and he requested nomo instead of
grass, it is quite expensive and looks very realistic if a bit "emerald". Just think ,no bare patches,no watering and best of all no mowing.

I have a few old coins from various parts of the world, they must be worth something to somebody one would have thought.

Maybe if I forego my coffee out this morning, every penny helps.

An astro turf- I would die for an astro turf. That lady had such exquisite taste but if nobody minds, I would like to keep the front like the photograph, bag and rubbish free. I also have an aversion to loud music- I like peace and quiet.

Greyduster Wed 10-May-17 08:57:56

I'll cross everything, N&G. Out on the far banks of the reservoir, with no facilities, I will probably have everything crossed anyway! blush

Greyduster Wed 10-May-17 08:55:06

Ah, the AstroTurf football pitch is what swung it for me! I'll run off and print the readies this minute. Can you wait for the ink to dry, Galen? Only trouble is it will have a picture of Noddy on it instead of the Queen! Will they notice, do you think?
I was wondering how Soop will ever catch up too, Ann. I have a problem sometimes. I hope she gets reconnected soon. I'm sure that, being where she is, she misses it for all sorts of reasons other than giving us the comfort of her presence in the kitchen.
It was school run yesterday and DD texted me to say that SiL had come down with some bug in the middle of the night so not to get too close to him when we took GS home. So we tried not to without treating him like some kind of leper, but he did look poorly, poor thing. Next school run is Thursday so hopefully he will be recovered by then. We are away this weekend so germ avoidance is top of my agenda.
I am going fishing this afternoon for a few hours now that the wind has finally dropped. I have tied some new killer flies! Should give the fish a good laugh! ?

NanaandGrampy Wed 10-May-17 08:36:36

Morning all !

Poor soop . I would be lost without my internet connection !

I have raided the kids savings and can offer £3.50 in small change, 2 postage stamps and a Pokémon sticker for the house buying collection !!

I think we need a condensed version of goings on for soop.

It would start like this ...there were ups and downs , highs , lows, some rants, a lot of cake , some very cute pictures, a little house envy and collection for buying the Kitchener's a whole house , more cake, a little wine, some whining, good weather, bad weather, a splash of sadness and a lot of friendship.

There I think that covers most things.

Sorry to hear of your bad nights sleep ann , is an afternoon nap in order?

Could I ask for a little finger crossing ? We have the surveyor here today and we just want it all to go smoothly -- its the fear of failing ! Just till lunchtime- then its in the lap of the gods !

annsixty Wed 10-May-17 05:40:41

I have millions of pounds worth of old Turkish currency, it is large and decorative. I was really saving it as my fund for old age but this seems a more noble cause.
I have been awake since 3;25am with my mind whirling so will be like a zombie by lunchtime. Poor soop will be so frustrated, I know I would and we should have a moratorium on posting or she will never catch up.

callgirl1 Wed 10-May-17 00:09:51

At this rate, we`ll be in another new kitchen by the time Soop gets back!

cornergran Tue 09-May-17 23:56:21

Ah, a hot tub galen, why didn't you say before? Have found some old pre-euro currency, some smuggled out of Morocco, a Bulding Sociery book with 2'6 in it and Mr C's penny collection. Happy to contribute it all. That should do it. Surely?

Galen Tue 09-May-17 23:52:02

We think they've separated and it was her ( inherited) money that payed for it all.
He hasn't been seen to go to work for ages.
Watch this space.
Locally the estimate is £450000
Can't you lot raise that?

Galen Tue 09-May-17 23:46:57

[Sad\

Bellanonna Tue 09-May-17 23:17:05

Far too tasteful for me ?

Galen Tue 09-May-17 23:06:30

You are joking?
In the meantime
Can't you raise the money the buy this monstrosity lovely dwelling?
It has got a hot tub, astroturf football pitch and mural

cornergran Tue 09-May-17 22:59:23

Bags please tell soop there is much growling and gnashing from here but at this distance it probably comes across as a whimper. It must be so frustrating but of course this too will pass. Reconnection will happen, as should a large discount from the bill hmm.

callgirl1 Tue 09-May-17 21:44:49

Bags, please tell Soop that I`m growling and gnashing like crazy, but I`m probably too far away to do much good

Crafting Tue 09-May-17 21:36:58

maw ((huggs)) and sympathy. Been there, know it's really hard but think only of the good times and the love ❤️

Bellanonna Tue 09-May-17 18:33:57

mawB. xx

Galen Tue 09-May-17 18:33:31

Bags tell Soop I'm growling like mad, but my dentist already complains about my teeth grinding, so I darent gnash!

Jalima1108 Tue 09-May-17 17:40:24

MawB so sorry sad
there are lots of doggie playmates in heaven - and even the cats are friendly too.

cornergran Tue 09-May-17 17:35:38

mawb. Many, many hugs.

thatbags Tue 09-May-17 17:35:12

Just received a message from soop. She says broadband connection not fixed. The engineer thinks the problem might have been caused when superfast broadband was installed for the village last week. The Soops are five miles from the exchange (BT) and apparently that's too far. So they're still waiting to be connected. soop is not a happy bunny, she says, and love to You Lot.

Do some growling and gnashing of teeth on her behalf, please.

grannyqueenie Tue 09-May-17 17:31:00

Maw there surely must be dogs and cats in heaven, it wouldn't be right or heavenly to have nothing to stroke. That's my firm belief anyway!

downsized Tue 09-May-17 16:31:03

Still no Soop? It must be something quite major for her to be broadbandless for so many days. Hope she will be back in the kitchen soon. It's not the same without her. sad
