Count me out re that beautiful house, I could not manage the stairs. No problem finding the money, a rifle among drawers and jars and I am sure that amount could easily be found. I do have 7 shillings and 6 pence in old money in a PO account in my maiden name.

Not only was there a lot to catch up on but I had to read it twice before it made sense - I had missed out a page and wondered what wot had done to go to prison. Understand now ?

At a loss tonight, no Masterchef on BBC Scotland

PoshGran Mon 08-May-17 20:43:54

Galen - beautiful! (Sigh)
Maw - wink

MawBroon Mon 08-May-17 20:03:10

Maybe we could Club together Galen? Pool our paper fivers and it might come to enough?
It could be our holiday home!

A whirlwind visit. Wow I just cannot keep pace with you ladies and all the news and goings on. As per, I have been busy gardening. After clearing up the blood in the bedroom from a spectacular epistaxis by the OH. Just got the mattress covers and pillow covers dry and clean sheets on. Carpet cleaning tomorrow.

I need an early night tonight as I have to be in the pool at 0630 in the morning otherwise I can't fit everything into my day. Looking forward to a trip to the YSP and lunch with a friend and fellow gran.

Oh nearly forgot, we have three more new moorhen chicks on thrived. Plus one coot a.k.a. Billynomates.

Before I go I notice quite a few nasty comments on other threads. Why are folk so darned contrary and unpleasant. Life is too short .........

cornergran Mon 08-May-17 19:00:13

Oh how I wish if it has the same view as yours envy. Just think, the next neighbours cant be worse!

Please can any one of you lovely Kitcheners put in an offer for the bungalow.
I'm sure you can easily get the money out of your petty cash.

MawBroon Mon 08-May-17 18:11:51

I am assuming this reaction by your friend annSixty is a combination of shock, perhaps denial, displacement activity ("anything to keep busy") and an attempt to establish some sort of normality.
You can only let her witter on, talk about practicalities, choose the sandwich fillings and whether to offer tea or something stronger after the funeral.
There is sanctuary in triviality is there not?
Poor woman there is no easy return to normality, but we must all deal with things in our own way.

I had a long conversation with my friend last evening and have been to see her today.
I am at a loss how to behave around her.
All she is talking about ate the practicalities and how frustrating they are. They still don't have a death certificate and she has been tilt today there will have to be an inquest but can go ahead and arrange the funeral.
I am wondering when the penny is going to fall with an enormous crash.

Maw that cartoon made me laugh! We had a springer spaniel who was so daft, she had a bark like a Rottweiler but we always said that in reality the worst she would do was lick a burglar to death! The postman was scared of her...until he actually met her that is! Flynn is scrumptious btw!
Ann going out for a couple of hours on your own sounds a good survival strategy. You are right you do need to take care of you, by way of outings, flowers or anything else legal or mostly so that comes to mind.
Well all in all we enjoyed a good weekend with our son and his family, but sad to see our 14 year old granddaughter being such hard work at times and clearly unhappy a lot of the time. They're trying to do the best they can both for and with her but it's not easy and all we can do is love and support them through it all. In some ways it was easier being a parent than feeling so helpless on the sidelines. forget I just said that, I remember now parenting teens is no fun

I made a lovely big chilli but I can't eat. Oh well, I am a bit overweight, so.

Charleygirl Mon 08-May-17 17:41:50

three houses ago, when I was burgled, the cat around then was very happy because she was able to come in out of the cold.

Update on the building (or not) saga.

The builder has a torn meniscus- I will explain to him tomorrow what that means. He and the labourer are arriving (supposedly) at 9am and the electrician in the evening. What a palaver but at least I can have my supper in peace this evening.

wot it is not worth the hassle for something so illegal. We really do not want to be sending food parcels and who would care for Sophie?

wot Mon 08-May-17 17:35:27

Ahhhh! She's the first one!

MawBroon Mon 08-May-17 17:32:54

Is the first pic perhaps Sophie? Maybe better try the second!

Back in 1993, we were woken at 4.15am by the police, to tell us that our garage had been broken into. They`d taken the window, which didn`t open, out of the frame, and climbed in through there, but the lady opposite was up with her sick hubby and noticed the up and over door was open and the light on, and realised that neither man was my husband, so called the police, but unfortunately the police missed them. After that, my husband nailed the window and the up and over door shut, and they remain so to this day! They got away with my son`s new mountain bike and hubby`s favourite fishing reel.
MawB, we crossed posts yesterday, so may I say what a little smasher Flynn is turning into?!

MawBroon Mon 08-May-17 17:29:27

Galen Is that £75K WITH the "Muriel" and £760K WITHOUT it?
Let's hope whoever buys it doesn't share their lack of taste

wot Mon 08-May-17 17:06:06

I've been watching too many murder programs. As long as the intruders don't touch me. I haven't got a lot worth pinching.

wot Mon 08-May-17 17:01:22

Yuck....poor you!

wot Mon 08-May-17 17:00:56

?

cornergran Mon 08-May-17 16:55:20

Careful wot. We don't want to be prison visiting. A good alarm is safer. We were burgled once, it's horrid, an alarm acts as a real deterrent.

I have serious and profound words of wisdom to share. Dark green is the absolute worst colour to wear around a little one with a tap for a nose. ??
