Galen Thu 04-May-17 15:32:35

Ann sympathy from me as well!

Bellanonna Thu 04-May-17 15:30:40

ann so sorry. I've just read your news about Peter. What a shock for everyone who knows him.

downsized Thu 04-May-17 15:23:56

annsixty , my heartfelt condolences on the sad loss of your friend. Such a shock for all concerned. flowers

PoshGran Thu 04-May-17 15:10:10

So sorry to hear the news ann; sudden death seems so unfair doesn't it? flowers
callgirl fingers crossed for you.
Galen we shared Christmas with one of Alexa's clones -great fun!
Thank you soop, 10 to 20 ladies can get a bit rowdy at times!

Have spent a.m in library again, this time with my "treasures" - currently a group of 9 children with moderate to severe learning & physical difficulties, and their 5 carers. A different class comes each term & I do Bagbook sessions with them - specialist, serial one-to-one stories specially designed for this type of group, which uses multi-sensory & actual objects in the storytelling. We then play with an indoor parachute!! The experience is always joyful & humbling.

Bright, sunny & breezy here at Poshtowers; I can hear the grass growing -that will be dealt with by the gardener (me again) tomorrow!

Won't be long before a cuppa is required (ring the bell would you please, I'll just have a fruit tea thanks, what about you lot. smile

Galen Thu 04-May-17 14:37:21

What sad news?

soop Thu 04-May-17 14:29:21

I was going to be flippant and about Galen's offer of sharing a butler. I shall not now that I've heard the sad news.

soop Thu 04-May-17 14:26:25

N&G Oh my! I'm so surprised to hear that Cooper had his best birthday EVER...and there was us lot thinking hmm dear wee boy will be lucky to get a balloon. As if! grin

ann I've just read that Peter died. flowers

soop Thu 04-May-17 14:20:55

Good afternoon to you lovely lot...

wot and callg Is there any way that you two could go to Cornwall together? I bet there is. We all need to put on our thinking caps. It's such a shame to have to lose the opportunity of a holiday. Come on...let's get thinking...

ann The stroke was such that the patient may never recover. It does sound very serious. Thank goodness that the family are together. I feel sad for the gentleman's wife, and for you, his good friends. flowers

PoshGran I enjoyed reading your post. Great fun to be had at the craft group. Although us lot do our level best to behave like proper laydees, there have been times when we have been known to be naughty.

Below is the latest pic of the leg injury. It is doing well but it is taking time to heal properly.

Another image of MacS encouraging Rory to finish his breakfast. wink

Alexa
Why don't oysters share their pearl?
They're shellfish

Galen Thu 04-May-17 13:48:55

I've holidayed with a couple of GN members, neither of which remotely resembled axe murderers!
Might, in fact be offering a Mediterranean cruise to someone next year. On Queen Elizabeth complete with butler! ( warning. Most of the butlers are female!)
I always cruise from Southampton

NanaandGrampy Thu 04-May-17 10:51:41

I'm so sorry to hear that Ann my deepest sympathies to his family.

Callgirl I think that is a simply splendid idea !!! I too have meet some Gnetters and not one was an axe murderer {smile]

Charleygirl Thu 04-May-17 10:45:41

ann so sorry to hear that news- the stroke was obviously very severe.

callgirl I do hope that GNHQ have not given away the holiday to anybody else yet. 4 days in Cornwall at any time of the year would be a refreshing change.

For the past 3 years I have been meeting monthly for coffee with very pleasant GNs who live fairly locally. We get on very well indeed.

Greyduster Thu 04-May-17 10:20:03

Ann that is bad news. My heart goes out to his wife, and to you. It is the suddenness of it, I think, that is particularly hard to deal with.
N&G seeing the photos of Cooper on his third birthday took me back to GS's third birthday. He was tractor mad and DH bought him a replica John Deere pedal tractor and trailer like his other grandad's (who didn't have to pedal his!). It was far too big for him and a silly present really, but when he saw it, he was so excited. He kept walking round it stroking it and pointing out it's various components - but would he sit on it? Not a chance! He would help grandad push it around the garden, putting things in the trailer and taking them out again, but months passed before he stopped just keeping company with it and actually sat on it. But the video we made of him when he first saw it is priceless and brings tears to my eyes.
callgirl I do hope you can find someone to take the holiday with you. Soop can vouch for you not being a serial killer I'm sure! Last year I was lucky enough to go to lunch with some lovely GNs; DH was very sceptical. "How do you know they aren't axe murderers?" he said. "I don't". said I "but if they are I'm sure they're perfectly charming axe murderers!" And they were - perfectly charming, that is ?!

callgirl1 Thu 04-May-17 09:51:06

Ann, so sorry to her about your friend, please give my condolences to his wife and family.

Right, providing GNHQ haven`t accepted my refusal of the holiday, would anyone like to take a chance on me not being a serial killer, but a fairly normal person, and share the trip with me?
Sorry to upset anyone, but it`s brilliant sunshine here, if a tad windy.

Charleygirl Thu 04-May-17 09:34:27

A day similar to yesterday, dull, cloudy and cold. The heavens opened yesterday evening no sign of rain yet.

I have to tidy up the house as the builders are coming back again tomorrow. I also need to buy some food as supplies are running low. I am still hankering after fish and chips- bags that is all your fault. I do not like mushy peas and I ma not a fan of ordinary ones either but as previously said I prefer Haddock.

N&G* a good job that you are computer literate or heaven help us the solicitor would have had to ask one of his minions to post a letter. You are fortunate not being in a chain, less to go wrong.

MawBroon Thu 04-May-17 09:33:30

So sorry to hear this ann60 but it was such a severe stroke.

annsixty Thu 04-May-17 09:31:37

Just now update, Peter died last night.

annsixty Thu 04-May-17 09:02:58

I haven't heard anything this morning yet, P was staying at the hospital overnight so I will have to wait until she calls or comes home. Thank you for asking. I hardly ate yesterday so am going to have some breakfast now, I think it was seeing him which affected me so.

morethan2 Thu 04-May-17 08:48:34

annsixty how's your friend? (sorry if I've missed your update. Things here move quickly) The weather her is really terrible. Just sheets an sheets of rain. It wasn't any better yesterday. I've had washing in the machine since yesterday, oh dearsad I've been trying to sort out my makeup/messy drawers in my bedroom. It's one of those jobs you wish you'd never started. It gets worse before it gets better.

NanaandGrampy Thu 04-May-17 08:16:01

Morning all !

What has happened to the weather? Yesterday afternoon I was freezing ! And its not much better this morning .

I agree Maw , for the huge sum we are paying , so far the solicitors have sent the paperwork via email and we have used our ink and paper to print it all out smile I have heard of some people who have done their own conveyancing...its tempting !

Cooper had ( and I quote) the best birthday EVER ! Lots of presents as befits a 3 year old and my daughter makes a fuss of birthdays so he got a special breakfast and the day was all about him. Why do birthdays seem a little less special at 60? smile

No chain Grey just our buyers( who aren't selling) and us buying an empty property . Long may the speed last

What a morning Ann ! I hope your friends husband improves today .

I felt like that too Galen --how very dare they. I did have a flippant - drug money- on the tip of my tongue but then I felt the chance I'd be banged up with Large Marg in Holloway in the blink of an eye so restrained myself !(Sorry Corner wink)

Oh Kitty !!! That's horrible. I'm afraid I have got supremely cynical in my old age and now say no to anything that is offered to me by phone if I haven't requested it myself. How horrible these scammers are !!

Callgirl I am sure you could have a mini GN meet up of your own by inviting some of your virtual friends . Don't cancel - make it a party smile.

Sorry to hear about your buggeration partner Wot , don't pity him - he doesn't deserve your pity , just a boot up the backside !

Swimming this afternoon with young Cooper , hope the waters warm !

Enjoy your days one and all !

callgirl1 Wed 03-May-17 23:56:30

Wot, that`s a great idea!

wot Wed 03-May-17 23:02:05

Sorry to be frivolous about holidays. I would love ann to join us though!

wot Wed 03-May-17 23:00:38

But it would be great fun for us to meet up for a little holiday!

Crafting Wed 03-May-17 23:00:32

ann will include your friend and his family in my prayers too. It does sound serious. No one can predict how someone will act when something like this happens. Your friend might seem calm but perhaps she is holding together for the sake of the family. flowers
