???

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 14:57:58

Galen I love your sense of the ridiculous. It's what us lot have in common. wink

Galen Sun 30-Apr-17 14:08:11

I all ready do that! Actually her next door is coming with me, so it'll be all chat and booze

Charleygirl Sun 30-Apr-17 13:50:12

OMG Galen have you been reduced to Alexa's level of "intelligence"?

You will be talking to yourself on the cruise and wondering why you are not getting an inane reply!

Galen Sun 30-Apr-17 13:44:58

Alexa.

Well, for what it's worth dear annsixty, I agreed wholeheartedly with your post on that 'other' thread. Please don't let mean-spirited people get to you. They aren't worth it. flowers

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 13:26:16

callg We shall say hello to David whenever we are in Muasdale. The throat is improving. Dark choc Magnums in the freezer. grin

soop Sun 30-Apr-17 13:24:36

morethan This is an awful time for your family. I so wish that I could comfort you. All that I can say is, please remember that us lot care. The least we can do is be here to listen to your concerns. Please use us as a means of putting your fears and hopes into words. sunshine

N&G Thank you for yet another fulsome update. The photos are lovely. Big smiles all round.

Greyduster Your son's birthday celebrations will be remembered for a very long time. Your grandson will have had a "swell time"...as for that cake...wink

annsixty I echo Elegran and Jalima's take on the catty unwarranted remarks from a few ignorant know-alls. Let it go. You've more important things to attend to. flowers

cornergran Sun 30-Apr-17 12:30:03

ann of course the people you describe exist in RL too, they just make more noise here because they have the protection of anonymity. I heartily dislike the sense of playground bullying that lurks in some threads. I composed a post on the triple lock thread a few minutes ago and promptly deleted it for fear of the response. I think it's necessary to feel pretty robust to venture into many threads. As elegran says, let them play on their own.

Jalima1108 Sun 30-Apr-17 12:29:33

annsixty a woman with no heart what rubbish!!
I did see that shock. I wonder if anyone else on the thread would put themselves out like you did to visit another gransnetter in hospital. Well done.
I should have posted in your defence but family arrived for a meal and time went by, so sorry. Anyway, I was in enough hot water on another thread anyway smile

Lovely happy pics on here to cheer the heart!

Elegran Sun 30-Apr-17 11:41:28

annsixty Some posters have this mantra of "everyone is wicked and heartless and deserves scourging except me". Then they complain that no-one wants to step into the ring to defend their views or philosophy against them. Let them play on their own and get on with life without them!

Charleygirl Sun 30-Apr-17 11:24:45

ann I learned the hard way and if I do reply on other threads I am less likely to get my head bitten off because I choose carefully.

annsixty Sun 30-Apr-17 11:06:59

Lovely photographs from proud Grans and so you should be.
Well I have done it again, got myself in trouble on another thread for facetiously criticising single mums living on benefits, and suggesting they should be told about the days when benefits didn't exist and what happened then.
I was called a woman with no heart and roundly told off and accused of wanting to go back to the days when "babies were torn from their mother's arms"
When will I learn to stick to the kitchen and keep my mouth firmly zipped?

Greyduster Sun 30-Apr-17 10:13:31

soop if they have the Magnum Double Chocolate they are to die for! Get one for me too, please!

Charleygirl Sun 30-Apr-17 09:58:04

N&G thanks for that, my mind is now at rest and I hope that the move is swift- I know I am on planet Zog. The children will love visiting you and being a drive from the sea is the icing on the cake. us lot will be down as soon as you have unpacked- we may give you a couple of days to find your bearings.

morethan you have had an awful time recently- lets hope for stability in the future. There are always new treatments coming on to the market. Fingers crossed.

Greyduster TENS machines are not too expensive but it is getting an unbiased opinion.

Once again I appear to be washing for the entire area so I must hang it outside.

soop you are allowed a Magnum if there is a shop close by.

MawB how is my adopted dog Grace? No doubt resting her eyes.

kittylester Sun 30-Apr-17 09:52:36

Sparky Puppy, gd? You are very welcome. We also have a hotel booked and the best deal was a 'date Night' deal - including champagne!! grin

Greyduster Sun 30-Apr-17 09:44:37

Sorry, N&G I missed your post while typing mine! I absolutely love the photos of your boys (all of them ?). They sound a pair of scamps, which is exactly as it should be! If this thing with my leg doesn't sort itself out soon, I will get some private treatment I think. The TENS machine is worth thinking about. Much envy for your proximity to the Norfolk coast. Thirty minutes is nothing is it? Our nearest seaside is over an hour away and DH always grumbles that it's too far.

Greyduster Sun 30-Apr-17 09:33:32

Hello to the kitchen! Things certainly move along in the kitchen. soop I hope your throats infection is on its way out; there's nothing more miserable than a sore throat.
morethan so pleased to hear that your DiL is stable at the moment. Let us hope for good things in the future - it has been a truly awful time for you and your family. I know what you are going through. I wish I had had some kitcheners to turn to at the time!
kitty earplugs and a richtus grin would seem to be the order of the day! I love jazz; could I go instead?
Maw I bought a new tarragon recently - too small to be any use at present. I had a Russian one for years and thought the flavour was better than the French tarragon.
We went up to York for my son's 50th birthday party yesterday. It was a super evening with lovely people and he and my DiL put on a superb spread. Despite being the only child in attendance, our GS enjoyed himself hugely as there was FOOD and he was allowed into DS's man cave to entertain himself on the games console for a bit, and he was allowed to work the slide show for the quiz, so he felt quite important. Here is the birthday boy with GS, and a picture of the cake DiL made. I can't do late nights these days though, especially when you have an hour and a quarter drive to get home! Fortunately my SiL took care of that.

NanaandGrampy Sun 30-Apr-17 09:23:14

Morning all !!

Wow the kitchen has moved on quickly. So just playing catch up. Had Jackson and Stevie for the best sleepover. I love the way they really enjoy each others company. Not a cross word in 24 hrs !! They agreed they were not best friend - they were best cousins ! Lovely !

Love the picture of Persie and Snow White Kitty- isn't that belief magical? We hope to move within 12 weeks but you know house moves Kitty ...

Thank you all for your good wishes on our house purchase. We're very excited.

Charley I love your organised mind. To answer your questions : We're in a village , small but has the basics. The local shop is 'scootable' smileif I couldn't drive and is called Harrods ( I hope the prices are more reasonable [laugh]. The bus timetable seems reasonable and larger villages are 15 mins away with everything available. 1 step up to the door but lots of room for a ramp if ever needed. I still think there's an element of the unknown but it is really now or never !!

About 30 mins from the coast Maw and its a very accessible coast so we shall be enjoying that if we ever get any reasonable weather wink

Love the pictures * Nellie* , isn't being a grandparent wonderful??

Callgirl we lot wouldn't let you go alone.... rest assured my lot are on standby for call up duty wink

Sorry to hear about your leg Grey . My osteo uses a TENS machine on muscle problem...any chance you could borrow one?

Bad backs are the worst Morethan !! My SiL is currently flat on his back after some surgery to try and get him back on his feet and its a royal pain. Hope you're feeling a bit better today . Never apologise for sharing your hopes or fears here, we lot totally understand. I'm glad the news was positive and skies are looking clearer over your head!

Added a couple of pics from our sleepover. I got an hours peace and quiet yesterday morning whilst the boys armed with a ball of wool, a roll of duct tape and some coat hanger set traps round the house to test on Grampy !! I only mention it because we forgot about some of the less obvious ones once we had taken them home . Grampy ended up with a coat hanger firmly stuck on his head with duct tape when he went into the bathroom to clean his teeth and you can imagine my surprise when I opened the wardrobe and several coat hangers on wool popped out !!

Happy sunday one and all xx

wot Sun 30-Apr-17 08:56:09

Love and best wishes to you, Morethan X

kittylester Sun 30-Apr-17 07:00:23

morethan, please share exactly what you need to here. it sounds much more hopeful now, doesn't it. flowers

We are going to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival today - I don't like Jazz - aren't I a good wife? Especially as we will miss Line of Duty. I am reminded of the Likely lads episode where they were trying not to find out the result of a football match.

See you all later.

cornergran Sun 30-Apr-17 01:49:39

You don't spoil the kitchen, morethan. The situation is so hard and you are a star. flowers.

MawBroon Sat 29-Apr-17 23:46:13

flowers morethan or a cheeky little wine if you prefer.

morethan2 Sat 29-Apr-17 23:12:09

Oh the granddaughters are in bed. Phew. We've had a lovely but tiring day. Long walks along the toe path of pretty river. Lots of exploring going on. Don't they (children) love what they think of as secret pathways in woods. I've kept them an extra night. It looks as if things are still stable for my DiL. I've sort of realised what I found most difficult last year. Apart from the horror of the initial diagnosis my son came to me in a terrible state and asked me to help bring up the children if the worse happened. Like any parent I said I would. Apart from the worry of loosing her I think I was really scared that I'd let my son and his family down. I'm exhausted after looking after them for a day. I simply couldn't raise a teenager and three very young damaged grieving children. I was absolutely terrified. I have decided that I must be positive just like my DiL. Unlike what we told this time last year that she had 1-2 years She has responded so magnificently to the treatment she may live for 5, 10, 15 years.who knows what treatments may come along.
I promise I won't spoil your comfy kitchen with any more of this. Tomorrow the whole family are out for the day. Watching my son and his wife walk hand in hand and their three youngest skipping along beside them makes my heart sing.

We have hue lights too galen. Select a nice tropical colour when it's cold outside and it warms us up a treat. grin
