Soop's kichen for friendly folk and pampered pets

Hi All. Sorry to have been away for so long, life has been against us for some while, and on the odd occasion when I have checked in there did not seem any subjects I could comment on. Given events for the next few weeks and the fall out afterwards, I doubt there will be threads I would wish to comment in.
I think you know that my hip op was postponed because the anaesthetist did not like my ECG and was not prepared to do it in a private hospital. I have now been re-referred to the main hospital but it is likely to be several months wait.
On top of that I have a frozen shoulder and a stomach problem that is being investigated, waiting for an urgent colonoscopy.
Linda is still suffering following the fall she had last year.

We are a decrepit pair, need putting down.
On the bright side our Kids and Gkids are all well, son has just moved to a ex farmhouse in the wilds of N.lincs (on the banks of the Humber (in it at spring tides !). We are having a short break at Warners, Holme Lacy Herefordshire.

Bellanonna The walk that we take, is through beautiful gardens. There are many Limes. Really ancient, and as you say, enormous specimens.

Thanks Galan so do I. I'm in the dark until I get home. I think my son just needs to 'spit it out' and then he can take a deep breath and cope better. He doesn't tell anyone else until he has too. Anyway your dining adventure sounds fun. Was there also somthing extra special on the menu?

I'm here in Norfolk looking after my grandchildren,dog an house sitting while my youngest is on holiday. Before that I was visiting my sister in Spain so I'm not sure what's been going on in the cafe. I'm after a bit of information and I'm really sorry if this is upsetting but my oldest son has just emailed that my DiL has to have chemo. We were told this would be a last resort because she's had so much in the past and can't have much more. I'd hoped that following the mastectomy and the breast cancer being in remission that things were looking up. Does it mean the secondaries are not responding? Does it mean things are getting worse. I'm frightened but would rather know.

Dined with the current ( new ) president of cunard etc. On our table we also have the guest speaker, who is Jonathan Hasslamwho was press secretary to a chap called John Major. He's a very good speaker and a delightful fellow guest.

Lovely pictures. That's a huge lime soop. The ones round here tend to be tall anspd straggly. And a woodpecker at the feeder! The squirrels demolish mine, even the squirrel-proof ones. Btw do you have red squirrels around you?
I hope the probing is not too awful but once it's done it's done. I think the waiting for something like that is worse in a way.
Still feeling sad for Ruby (the other thread) as she faces bigger surgery than she expected. It's always a shock when you are told it's going to be something different. Just wish her all the best and look forward to hearing about her good recovery soon.

Good afternoon to you lovely lot. I've just a "small window" available inbetween MacS and his pals hogging usage of the puter. It's not that bad. I'm not complaining. The computer I use is on the level. Mac's is way up in the loft.

Long ago, or so it seems, one of our Granspals asked about the deer. I've just remembered that I forgot to respond. Sorry about that. The deer used to eat apple from our hands. I've lots of photos of them doing so. They have never been afraid to approach the garden fence. We no longer encourage them because we're afraid that they'll leap over the fence and head towards the road.

All this talk of poles, has me tittering. Honest to goodness, anyone would think that we are unlaydeelike...--which we can be--

Actually galen has already told us she is in fact too posh for the Captains table as he dines in a lower grade dining room than she does.
I recall from a few days ago she did dine with someone very important , I just can't remember who it was.

Why am I on GN now? I'm supposed to be packing for my holiday but it's a job I hate doing. Better not tell Grumpy Derek on the packing thread though. Don't want a telling-off.

soop - hope there is some good reason for this afternoon's procedure. There comes a time (in my experience) when you've had more than enough of poking and prodding!

Your day seems to have passed off reasonably well Ann and it's over now! It does seem to be a bit of a surreal experiences.

I used to volunteer at our library too posh and some of our older members complained about the noise of Rhyme Time!

Oh sorry I forgot about that. As you may know he treats life as a huge joke and I had to be very firm when we got to church to curb his remarks.He complained about the narrow wooden seats and said he was sliding off all the time. He didn't understand the communion which took ages and asked if it was "just a Catholic thing"
It was a very long service,about an hour and twenty minutes,and I was very pleased when it was over for my own sake,
The neighbours who took us are a young couple in their late 30s/early forties but humoured him very well. As soon as the meal was over he wanted to go home as he was bored by then but they were happy to leave as they did not know anyone else and had children to pick up from friends who were picking them up from school.
It was a very long 4 and a half hours but the 2 glasses of wine later on helped a lot, that was on top of the very modest, for me, glass I had with my meal.
I also hope soops procedure goes well and something is found to help.
I think the silence from the medics is unprofessional and unforgiveable.

Looks as though Anne won't be coming with me on the next cruise. ( September for 17 days)
She's worried that she'll get too used to the luxury! And she ( to be fair ) never goes away for more than 7 days at a time.
I might be coming on here asking if any one is interested. It's all paid for.
She's got until Friday to make her mind up?

ann how did H cope, or more to the point, did you survive the day or were you in tatters? Did he know what he was attending? No doubt a glass of wine or three were very welcome when you eventually arrived home.

Good morning all.
My day yesterday was rather surreal. The whole family held it together in a way that was surprising. The D totally took charge as expected,and the GGC took a large part, even to the 11 year old reading a lesson.
The reception afterwards was a very lavish hot buffet at a lovely hotel,attended by over 100.
The church members and the Catenian society, of which P was this years President, dominated everything. Apart from immediate family and family members who numbered about 12, we and our neighbours were the only ones there not church members.
I have still to express how I really feel as no-one else seemed to.
If that seems odd or harsh even, I know just how much he meant to his family ,they all loved him dearly and being very hand on he will be hugely missed by them all but it was like,right everyone ,stiff upper lip,carry on being tough, keep it together.
On a lighter vein wobblybits posted very early this morning on a thread about ransomware.

I pity anyone not a regular turning up at our library this morning - 40-plus "littlies",from 6 weeks to 3 yo, & 25 mums/grannies & carers can make one heck of a row when the musical instruments are out! I was knackered pooped out by the end & wringing with sweat at the effort of 35 minutes of jollied-along nursery rhymes....but sooooo much fun.
After I recovered I went into town on some errands & it was on my way back home when I saw this man...with a pole....
