being very brave here and starting the new kitchen, not too hot here so I can manage the move OK

Tizliz Fri 14-Jul-17 13:43:34

Both my daughter and sister have no problem finding things in my kitchen, unlike my OH grin. However, a few years ago on a move I asked my daughter to put something in a safe place - had to ring her eventually and admit defeat in finding it.

life looks better today, charley, just over tired yesterday. We are out but Mr C has been gossiping having a very important conversation a few feet away about goodness knows what with goodness knows who for what feels like years so I'm emulating the young ones around us and entertaining myself with my phone. How ill mannered am I? grin. Food will come soon and save his neck.

Charleygirl Fri 14-Jul-17 12:54:16

Maw Flynn has a mind of his own! That stick will entwine around his legs and he will be a heap on the floor! He really is intelligent and gorgeous.

corner go out and enjoy yourself and try to forget any other problems, whatever they may be. Look after numero uno I say.

Galen Fri 14-Jul-17 11:45:42

Flynn looks very independent. Venetia tells me Griffin has just set off walking 11/12. I shall see them at the end of the month.

Kate also has inventive ideas about putting things away. I'm usually searching for my favourite knife. It's never in the same place twice!

cornergran Fri 14-Jul-17 11:38:28

I did smile at your experience, greyduster I remember it well, its a wonder I wasn't arrested for lurking behind bushes back in the day grin. I do know what you mean about not being able to find things, its always difficult to look too in case it seems intrusive. I'm OK in one house, when they moved I unpacked the kitchen stuff and was told by a very stressed daughter in law to put the things where I thought they should go - I did and they are still there. In the other home I tend to unload the dishwasher, shall we say creatively, I get all sorts of messages beginnig 'I wonder if you can remember putting.......' Trouble is I usually don't remember, but know I did. grin.

It will get easier, just get your daughter to show you where the things are that you couldn't find this time and then hope she doesn't move them before your next visit.

I'm being nagged to go out, so guess I should, take care all, hope all is going well for macS, thinking about those fish and chips has already decided today's lunch.

Good morning all. Have been at DD's since yesterday and have just come home for a "comfort stop", in that although DD has a lovely house, I don't feel quite as comfortable in it as I do in my own, and I don't know where anything is! GS is not a lot of help - he doesn't know where anything is either! Plastic bags, dishwasher tablets, tea towels, and the keys to the back door, do not come high on his agenda. He was more focussed on searching out charging cables for his iPad, shin pads, things to eat that aren't good for him and making sure his newly detached tooth was placed where the tooth fairy (in this instance Grandad) could find it! I walked him to school this morning (non negotiable) - he walks with his friends, but, as is DD, I was "allowed" to follow at a respectable distance as long as I did not make it seem as if I was actually "with him" hmm. Fortunately one of the other mums was walking down, so we maintained a respectable distance together - she knows the rules too - turning back when they had all crossed the main road. We should have a 'big sigh' emoticon!
They grow up too quickly, as you are now witnessing, Maw! There is no holding the wee man now he's found his feet (surprisingly quickly too by the look of it!). Glad to hear Paw is making some progress.
I am going to put my feet up now with another cup of coffee until it is time to sally forth once more.

Nelliemoser Fri 14-Jul-17 09:49:18

Oh yes of course jam counts there are vitamins in those fruits.
I have taken to stirring spoonfuls of my home made jam into my full fat greek yogurt, that is lovely and far fewer additives than those you can buy.

One of these days I shall pick up the home made pickle and stick that in by mistake. The jars are all the same.

Lona Fri 14-Jul-17 09:13:57

Hope all goes well today soop, enjoy the fish and chips sunshine

cornergran Fri 14-Jul-17 09:06:53

Love those photos maw, Flynn is a real joy. Hope paw slept as well as you, it does make such a difference. Hoping for a quieter time for you with positive news once you crack the who said what doctor maze.

Enjoy your quieter day, ann, good to have tomorrow to look forward to. We've got a bit to sit out, ann, Mr C and I are fine, it's family, nothing we can do to change events, hard to see their struggles though. Had a long physically tiring day yesterday and the tiredness had got to me. Still, nice day ahead today. Slow start, then a lazy lunch out followed by an afternoon and evening out. Will do us good.

galen I still say black currant jam is the way to go, my favourite and full of vitamins grin.

Grey old start here today but should be sunshine later. Take care all. Thinking of poorly people.

Iam64 Fri 14-Jul-17 08:41:29

Good morning. The photographs of Flynn are a joy to see Maw, I do hope That Paw's treatment continues to help. It's great to read about your long sleep.
It's a drizzly start to the day here but we had a sunny week in the main and of course, it will be good for the gardens.
Galen, black current, strawberry or apricot jam definitely count as one of your five a day. It's essential to slather the jam on though, no scrimping
Hope everyone has an ok or even a good Friday.

MawBroon Fri 14-Jul-17 08:31:47

Good morning kitcheners, just checking in after an unheard of nine hours sleep (OK one loo trip around 3 but I think I was probably sleepwalking then too)
Everybody has gone away and it is actually a relief after a rollercoaster week. I have no further news except that Paw seems to be responding to the treatment. He is not very good at clocking which Doctor has said what and when (understandable in hospital) but I might find out something today. He was exceedingly grumpy as he had had two bad nights , not disturbances on the ward, just insomnia, so I am hoping for better news there today.
Little Flynn has discovered serious walking and doesn't want to be picked up or carried EVER he is so independent and energetic! He found one of Granpa's sticks and tried to carry it round the house (getting in the doorway) Bags of monkeys don't come close!

annsixty Fri 14-Jul-17 07:45:45

Good wishes for those with a trying day ahead.
corner hope the hard days soon get easier, I know how debilitating they can be.
Family complications mean my D and Family aren't now coming until tomorrow, I am actually quite relieved as I need a day to catch up and do some tidying round (and one less meal to cook).

Charleygirl Fri 14-Jul-17 07:14:21

A good journey soop and enjoy your lovely lunch. Please do not leave that young man at home on his own for too long- he likes to know that somebody is around, preparing his next meal. Good luck to MacSporran- that is a long time for the tests to come through.

kittylester Fri 14-Jul-17 07:02:39

Hope you had a good sleep corner and today is easier. flowers

Safe journey soop and MacS - hope all is well.

My friend had a regular checkup for her ongoing problem a couple of days ago and promised to ring me after. I heard nothing all day and was really worried but, when she eventually rang, she said they had been out for lunch and a drive to celebrate the fact that all was well!

I was hoping for news of Paw but I'll pop back later for a catchup.

Lottie obviously didn't shout 'come on Conkers!' loudly enough yesterday. Her parents have tickets for the men's final and were hoping for anyone other than Federer. hmm

cornergran Thu 13-Jul-17 23:02:09

Hope the tests have a positive outcome for macs. Lunch sounds good, soop, only slightly envious smile.

Hard day today on all sorts of levels, off to bed now, apologies to all I may appear to have overlooked

Swanny Thu 13-Jul-17 23:01:30

This day seems to have been busy with visitors in the kitchen, I think I need N&G 's Jackson's dream Bugatti to carry me through it all. He looks 'over the moon' in those photos in the Lamborghini smile

Galen definitely blackcurrant jam only - a friend brought some back from her Cotswolds holiday recently and the smell as you open the jar is drool-making grin

soop hope you and MacS have a positive day tomorrow - a while to wait for results but a tasty meal to be enjoyed. So good to hear of Rory's improvement.

Missed an 'a capella' concert in the local church the other night. I'd bought a ticket but then forgotten about it till my laptop calendar gave me a 15 minute reminder. It was pouring with rain so decided to stay home sad

My love and best wishes to all who are troubled tonight for whatever reason. I shall collect DGS from school tomorrow and have a few hours with him before DS and DDIL pick him up later. They're only a mile down the road but I haven't seen them all week and am looking forward to it. I know I'm extremely lucky they are so close and send (((hugs))) to everyone who misses their family. Night night all and sleep well moon

callgirl1 Thu 13-Jul-17 22:55:12

All the best to MacSporran for tomorrow`s tests, and enjoy those fish and chips! Take care on the long and winding road to Oban though.
Galen, that`s a good idea about hair dye, but would a dab of nail varnish be harmful to the mouse?

Galen Thu 13-Jul-17 22:29:10

Definitely only strawberry or raspberry

Crafting Thu 13-Jul-17 21:44:06

No it certainly wouldn't Galen! hmm not that I'm at all jealous of you having scones and jam ..my favourite envy

maw glad of slightly better news on paw hope things get better.

Tizliz Thu 13-Jul-17 21:31:29

Hope you have a good journey soop and enjoy lunch.

cornergran Thu 13-Jul-17 20:25:39

Black currant definitely does galen full of vitamins. grin.

Gagagran Thu 13-Jul-17 19:30:30

Only if it's strawberry or raspberry jam. grin

Galen Thu 13-Jul-17 18:42:32

Day?

Galen Thu 13-Jul-17 18:42:14

Can someone tell me, does the jam used with my Devon scones and clotted cream, count as one of my 5 a d?

Tegan2 Thu 13-Jul-17 18:39:13

I'm disappointed that Johanna didn't wait for Venus after the match. I realise she was upset but it was very unsporting of her. It's been a disappointing Wimbledon thus far really, with top players going out with injury etc. I know it's nice to see 'oldies' like Federer and Venus doing well, but it isn't good for the future of the sport. I wonder if these players just have to play too many tournaments these days. I guess that they think they can do it because their fitness levels are so great compared to years ago, but a body and mind can only take so much.
