being very brave here and starting the new kitchen, not too hot here so I can manage the move OK

Hipsy Wed 12-Jul-17 16:09:49

Its altogether a brighter kitchen today. Perhaps its the glow from Annsixtys candles on her cake? cupcake (many happy returns)
tizliz what is dinking a rifle??

annodomini Wed 12-Jul-17 16:08:45

Poor Andy. He was propping himself up with his racket sometimes. He simply couldn't manage to chase a ball. Hope someone takes him off for a scan and gives him a pair of crutches. I know how it feels to have a painful hip. At one point I couldn't bear to watch and turned over to Countdown on Ch4+1.

So...go Jo!

*anno8Wasn't Konta's match a nail-biter? I am rooting for her to get into the final.

Rory jumped on to the outside bench today. He's been basking in the sunshine ever since. I, on the other hand, have been dashing away with a hot iron. There's no justice!

cornergran Wed 12-Jul-17 15:45:48

Happy birthday to YOU. sunshine flowers

It's my eldest son's 56th birthday today. The weather couldn't be kinder.

Maw A glimmer of hope can bloom into a mighty big beam. That is what I'm wishing for you and Paw.

Andy is struggling. I'm upset on his behalf. However, this has happened in the past and he's rallied. So...Come on Andy! For goodness sake!

annsixty Wed 12-Jul-17 15:33:44

Thank you all. The sun has shone and it is warm here.
I have had coffee and cake at a friend's house this morning and this evening my S is cooking for us, his D who is is my eldest GD and his two steps who are all teenagers.
When ones C are divorced and separated, social occasions are a bit of a nightmare. My ex DiL will come tomorrow with her 2 and my D and her 2 , also teens are coming on Friday.
What a tangled web!!
I have had lovely flowers 3 pieces of jewellery and
I am a happy old boiler of a bunny.

Swanny Wed 12-Jul-17 15:10:04

Maw so pleased to hear there's a glimmer of response in Paw, hope he continues to show improvement (((hugs))) and flowers x

Swanny Wed 12-Jul-17 15:06:31

Ann a very big Happy Birthday wish from me. Hope you have a good day and the coming year is kind to you. Sending you lots of flowers wine sunshine and a little bit of cupcake to nibble on occasionally!

Tizliz Wed 12-Jul-17 13:40:15

I know you shouldn't get upset about material things but yesterday I dinked my brand new rifle - only second use. Driving home my OH said "cheer up, you have a genius for a husband, this time tomorrow you will not be able to see it". True to his word, it is perfect again. Suppose I shall have to be nice to him for a while grin

Greyduster Wed 12-Jul-17 11:25:19

Oh Wow! Happy happy birthday, Ann! ?????? - I can only echo what Anno has said. Wishing you a lovely peaceful day!

Bellanonna Wed 12-Jul-17 11:23:52

annodomini Wed 12-Jul-17 10:48:25

Ex-teachers will relate to the dream I had last night. I started work in a new school where I knew nobody, couldn't find my way around and, when I did find my classroom, discovered that I had to teach Eng Lit without any books or access to a photocopier. I wonder if this was getting too close to what is becoming a reality in cash-strapped schools nowadays!

annodomini Wed 12-Jul-17 10:44:10

Good luck with the cat-herding, N&G. Oddly enough, my youngest GS (now 9) who was a terror when younger, always sat through a film without moving and in complete silence. I used to wish we could spend more time in the cinema although some of those inane animated 'kidflicks' drove me to distraction - it is well known to my GC that I always escape by dropping off for a while during the film!

cornergran Wed 12-Jul-17 09:57:29

So sorry you all have this worry, gaga, it's all the harder to manage illness or any painful situation when we can't make things better.

cornergran Wed 12-Jul-17 09:55:31

Good news about paw. Hang on to hope, maw, just a little gets us through so much.

Felt the same, grey when we first began with Littlest as we often go to their home as it's better for them. Now it's second nature although if I'm honest I still prefer being here, guess most of us are more comfortable in our own space. Think of the fun there will be, look forward to hearing how much you enjoyed it.

Take care all.

Greyduster Wed 12-Jul-17 09:49:33

Gaga a very sad time for you and your sister and my heart goes out to her. It is awful to watch people decline through illness. My best friend's husband suffered from IPF and it was heartbreaking to see him struggle through the stages of his decline with something for which there is no cure and know that there was nothing effective you could do to help except to try and keep him cheerful.

Gagagran Wed 12-Jul-17 09:33:03

Fingers crossed that the better news re Paw continues, So many positive vibes headed your way Maw that they must be having an effect! Hope your stress levels are a bit lower as a result.

I keep sending vibes to my sister and her DH too in the hope that it helps if only a little bit. He remains very weak and at 6ft 3ins tall now weighs less than 9 stones. Such a sad way to go for a formerly energetic, lively, humourous man who has always been like a big brother to me. sad

Greyduster Wed 12-Jul-17 08:59:34

Ooh, N&G can I come? We were going to take GS but he has already been to see it. He really enjoyed it (I think DH has both feet in Grampy's camp) and I don't suppose he'd object to seeing it again, especially if there was popcorn and sweeties involved. I'm sure Laura will be a great help with the younger ones. An extra pair of hands is always an asset.
We have babysitting duties from tomorrow until Saturday evening and will be staying at DD's in order to get him to school on Friday, and various sporting commitments he has over the three days. To be honest I am uncharacteristically nervous about it, and I have no idea why, except that staying at DDs is completely outside my comfort zone and I would rather be at my home with him.
Maw glad to hear you have some better news of Paw. I hope you feel a bit more settled about him.
kitty the original plan was for a plain white bog standard bathroom suite and some fairly run of the mill tiles, just to freshen things up a bit, but things rather got out of hand, and we are where we are with each element trying to do justice to the other. Nightmare. But we are not going to think about it today. Off out for a walk soon.

NanaandGrampy Wed 12-Jul-17 08:19:36

Morning all !

Yes it is a bit of a brutal cut Grey but it will mean seeds stand no chance of going in his ear ( touch wood !!) and it grows back so quickly.

Good news on the tile front !!

Great news Maw !! Resilient old things -kidneys. Its amazing how poorly they can be and then recover. Hope Paw is feeling a bit better too. I suspect he's fed up of hospitals too .

In a moment of madness whilst babysitting the two older grandchildren last night I managed to get talked into taking them and the two little ones to the movies on Thursday. We are off to see Minions 3 ( without Grampy who refuses to sit through what he describes as a 'load of old tosh' !!

I suspect it will be like herding cats although Laura has promised to help me with the little ones. I have had their requests for what sweets we shall need to keep us from starving during the showing so I am off out today to purchase said items.

AND it raining cats and dogs here and has been since yesterday evening - so time to hunt out a jacket etc. Come back sun - all is forgiven !!

kittylester Wed 12-Jul-17 06:59:55

Popped in to see how things are with Maw and Paw - I'm so pleased things are looking brighter Maw and hope the progress continues.brew

gd, there comes a stage where the only solution is to say 's*d it* - it sounds as though you might be nearly there. Or go for a plain white and add interest with blinds, towels, wall colour etc

oldgoat Wed 12-Jul-17 06:22:23

Good to hear that paw is showing some improvement maw Fingers crossed for you both that his kidney function will continue to get better. Thinking of you both.

Tegan2 Tue 11-Jul-17 23:49:12

Good to hear that, Maw....
