Woweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Back from a morning of dashing away with the smoothing iron. That is one lovely boy, Maw.

Before I have lunch and a wee break watching Wimbles, some wonderful news to share with you. Have had to report back to the lady vet who saw Rory two days ago. She gasped when I told her that...Rory is moving almost perfectly and wandering around his garden. She said - that is incredible! We can hardly believe our eyes. He needed a little assistance climbing on the bed for his early morning 'bonding session' but he did it so much more comfortably. We both burst into tears. Daft as brushes ...the pair of us. Back a little later. grin

Tegan2 Thu 06-Jul-17 14:14:08

That's VERY important as sighthounds do not like looking silly, do they grin. I keep thinking about getting an ex racer when we no longer have Hattie, but they are very large dogs when you're used to whippety sized ones [even though, for large dogs they don't take up a lot of space]. And it would definately not be able to get out through the catflap for a garden toilet break.

MawBroon Thu 06-Jul-17 13:44:57

They should fit AND (more important) being black with red or red with black will SUIT him!

Tegan2 Thu 06-Jul-17 13:43:24

The question is, will Graces coats fit him or will he have his own new wardrobe? I do hope he turns out to be suitable. If he does he's got a lovely life ahead of him!

MawBroon Thu 06-Jul-17 13:35:37

He is an ex-racing greyhound Tizliz
I think beds will be definitely off limits here!
Glad your dog is getting better!

Tizliz Thu 06-Jul-17 12:05:22

Hope all poorly pets - and partners! - are recovering. Anlon has stopped being sick and now just upset about the reduction in food. Think we possibly panicked a bit because of his urinary/prostrate problems.

Mawbroon is that an ex racing greyhound or a whippet? Not very knowledgeable about them. Our friends have rescue greyhounds who make themselves comfortable on our bed when they come round, our dogs are not allowed there.

Greyduster Thu 06-Jul-17 08:27:23

Flowers and wine, Ann?? She didn't even offer to get me a towel! Good job the supermarket is only a few minutes drive from home!

callgirl1 Thu 06-Jul-17 01:07:09

A handsome dog MawB, I hope he passes the Basil and Flynn test on Saturday, he looks a happy soul.
Soop, my thoughts are with you and Rory.
Some of us are booked in at Brambles in Inverary for next April, hard to believe that nearly everywhere is booked up already.

wot Thu 06-Jul-17 00:21:09

Maw, love the new doggie xxxxxxx

Crafting Wed 05-Jul-17 23:01:07

Maw bet you can't wait until Freddie joins you. Hopefully he will cheer paw up too smile

Swanny Wed 05-Jul-17 21:48:49

Congratulations Maw Freddie looks like a stayer. I'm very pleased to hear Paw was in good spirits today, he's certainly been through it again recently.

Greyduster what a shocker! Well 2 really - first getting drenched then no b****y fish shock

soop Rory's ascent of the bed certainly sounds as though the spirit is still willing in him and coupled with his good appetite the news is encouraging. I truly hope he makes a good recovery and keeps his place in the kitchen for quite some time yet. I do love to hear a cat purring flowers x

cornergran Wed 05-Jul-17 21:42:33

Hello daisy your Victoria sponge biscuits sound very similar to my scones grin.

Goodness, mawb that must be so painful for pawb, so sorry this has happened but pleased he is more comfortable now. Freddie sounds to be just right, hope it works out for you all.

Rory sounds to be both calm and content, soop, he knows he is loved and he is certainly being well cared for. I'm pleased you and macs are feeling a little easier now.

greyduster sounds as if you and I are fighting the same doggie battle, hope you have more success than I am sad. Good job it was warm today. If you must have a soaking smile.

Pleased Sam is better n&g. Pets can be so worrying. When we were out today we saw a couple with a flaked out Labrador. We assume s/he had walked too far in the heat. Offered water and left them to it as we couldn't help further, they were very worried, hope the dog recovered.

Best be off, seem to be running to stand still this week. Apologies to all I have missed, take care everyone.

Charleygirl Wed 05-Jul-17 21:24:14

Oh dear Greyduster| not quite what you were expecting. A good job that you h ad not exited from the hairdressers. I would not have been happy to have been soaked. DH may not have found it all quite so amusing if he had been drenched.

annsixty Wed 05-Jul-17 21:17:36

When this happened to my friend at Aldi greyduster she got flowers and wine from the manager.

Greyduster Wed 05-Jul-17 20:47:00

Forgot to say I got a dousing this morning as we were on the way out. I was walking to the chemist to pick up a prescription, passing a stand of plants outside the supermarket, when someone decided to water them. She didn't see me walking past on the other side and switched the sprayer on, which came right over the top! I was dripping. She was mortified! I had to go home and get changed before we could get on our way. DH thought it was funny. He was not my best friend for a couple of hours!

Greyduster Wed 05-Jul-17 19:34:37

Handsome dog, Maw. He will have big shoes to fill after Grace, but he looks as if he will be up to the task! Hope Paw is improving.
Soop glad to hear Rory is feeling a little better - a good appetite is always a good sign!
N&G good to hear that Sam has recovered his equilibrium! I have been prodding DH about the possibility of us getting a dog, but he is adamant that he doesn't want one. I'll just have to keep prodding!
Had a fishing day today at Ladybower but the denizens of the great Lady confounded me. There was only one other guy fishing. He had been there all day and had seen no fish at all. He left empty handed at three thirty and I had three hundred acres of water to myself - so it should have been less about the lack of fish and more about the tranquility, the birds, the light on the landscape, blahdi blah, shouldn't it? But actually it was more than a little bit about the b****y fish! There's always another day.....
Welcome Daisynance. Your Victoria sponge sounds very much like mine! If there's any left in the Kitchen keep me a piece!

Charleygirl Wed 05-Jul-17 19:07:27

He is a handsome young man! Freddie is very fortunate going to a home where he will be loved and so well cared for.

Flynn I know will love him.

NanaandGrampy Wed 05-Jul-17 18:37:18

He's lovely Maw ! Good choice !!

Tegan2 Wed 05-Jul-17 18:21:56

Oh he's lovely!

MawBroon Wed 05-Jul-17 18:11:04

Well I went to see and this is who will I hope be joining the family on Saturday, pending passing the Basil and Flynn test ! DD tried to join me today but the traffic was dreadful and she had to take Flynn for a check up, so I didn't want to risk her being late.
This is Freddie, 3 I think, very calm, not too bouncy or "tiggerish" and affectionate! He is apparently good with children and small dogs (they "test" them). He is very sweet, maybe not such a looker as Gracie, but I have always felt the previous dog was better looking at first!
paw was in good spirits when I saw him before I hit the motorways I think he may be in until the weekend, but perhaps not over the w/e as they do very little then. We shall see. I think he will like Freddie because he is so calm , but he is as big as Gracie!!

Charleygirl Wed 05-Jul-17 17:15:56

soop he certainly is not just a cat. I would assume, as Tara runs this household, He in his own way runs yours. So pleased to hear that he has a good appetite and that he is content. One cannot ask for more.

soop Wed 05-Jul-17 16:39:08

callg That could be air/sea rescue. It's a worrying time when people feel inclined to take a swim and get into difficulties.

Charleyg Rory has slept for almost the entire day. He looks peaceful. The birds are all having a wonderful time, the wee mouse too. He doesn't stalk birds. He does, from time to time, show a passing interest in mice.

Both *MacSporran and I feel a lot better than we did at this time yesterday. Not that R's had a miraculous recovery but because he is quite obviously peaceful and contented. that is a huge bonus.

What a blistering match that has seen Johanna through. Both players were magnificent. Andy's match is next. I'm going to miss a few games. We'll be leaving for the appointment with the lady doctor very shortly.

Ironing duties tomorrow morning. I shall return asap. Thank you all for being so kind about Rory. We keep repeating...he isn't just a cat...and pet lovers know what I mean. smile moon

Charleygirl Wed 05-Jul-17 15:54:39

MawB so sorry to hear about Paw's medical problems- at least he is being cared for correctly.

soop Rory knows who loves him, hence the climb on to your bed with assistance for cuddles. He is a gorgeous boy, such a pity he did not understand that the poking and prodding were for his benefit. Lucky you do not have a carpet in that room!

callgirl1 Wed 05-Jul-17 15:45:51

Pleased to hear that Rory is still soldiering on, I`m still praying for a good recovery for him.
MawB, so sorry to hear about your poor husband, I do hope that he`s soon sorted and more comfortable.
There`s a yellow helicopter (is that air/sea rescue?) hovering over the river just outside the docks, but can`t see any more because of houses in between. I do hope it`s nothing too serious.

soop Wed 05-Jul-17 14:57:17

Although I haven't yet caught up with the many happenings in our kitchen, I shall do so in the fullness of time. You are all a great comfort in times of stress. Thank you. flowers xxx
