being very brave here and starting the new kitchen, not too hot here so I can manage the move OK

MawBroon Sun 25-Jun-17 15:43:50

Well...
Made it to Stockholm and sitting down to a coffee and a cinnamon bun while I wait for my connecting flight. Daren't go down the duty free route I'd be sleeping it off in a corner after getting up at 5.30!
Exhausted -I had forgotten how far you can walk at airports even with travelators etc etc.very nice young Swedish man insisted on accompanying me to make sure I didn't get lost bless him.
Hot under all this glass too.
#getyercoatnanyouvepulled grin

cornergran Sun 25-Jun-17 15:13:24

Oh blimey, mawb. Indeed duty free sounds the way to go. Hope you are airborne soon.

Sadly it's very windy here so feels chilly, not Magnum weather soop, so about to have a brew and a custard cream or two. I'm envious of the variety of birds visiting your garden. We get flocks of very noisy field sparrows each day along with the blackbirds hunting our worms and a few blue tits, but rarely anything else.
Oh yes. Mustn't forget the Magpie which invariably tries to knock the bird feeder over, maybe it just isn't hungry grin. Still, we enjoy seeing them all.

Suspect today has been even busier than yesterday in your garden, kitty, hope you aren't too tired and have had very complimentary people pass through.

Take care all.

A warm and sunny Sunday afternoon greeting to all our Granspals.

Maw we're with you in spirit. Nana's suggestion sounds like a good plan. I do hope that you are airborne very soon. Enjoy!

Tizliz that is a superb photo of a Bullfinch. Is it one of yours? Our garden is visited by finches of all sorts. The Woodpecker returned at breakfast time. I took another photo but the youngster was doing the bee-bop dance...the one that sends out the message - feed me, feed me, and make it quick! grin

anno The Jay is a handsome bird. It's looks mighty big alongside the Tit family.

Gaga Thank you for making me chuckle. What a day you had with family wanting to be fed (asap) at different times. You did well. If I could pin a medal on your chest I surely would.

kitty Your garden will be busy again this afternoon. When the last visitor leaves...treat yourself to something special. We're to have a choc Magnum treat this afternoon. MacSporran says that we deserve one. I'm not going to argue with him. grin

NanaandGrampy Sun 25-Jun-17 12:02:18

Just a quick pop in - darned delays Maw ...get into Duty Free and cheer yourself up :-)

Safe journey x

Jalima1108 Sun 25-Jun-17 11:05:07

Good luck - I was looking forward to going through the re-vamped Terminal 2 a while ago but was most disappointed (especially with the food!).

MawBroon Sun 25-Jun-17 11:02:49

Nice to READ everybody's news
The typos don't change!!

MawBroon Sun 25-Jun-17 11:02:13

I am having a LOVELY day at Terminal 2 where my flight to Stockholm has been delayed for the second time. So I have had to rebook a later onward flight to Visby <sigh>
I'll get there eventually (I expect)
In the meantime, nice to everybody's news

kittylester Sun 25-Jun-17 08:11:56

Ann, I agree with Lona. It's good to have something to look forward to. flowers

gaga sounds like your running buffet turned into a marathon roastchicken.

anno my friend has a 'resident' Jay and a couple of woodpeckers. I'm really envy

soop, I read llama soup too and have been fancying duck since I read your post.

Our garden open day eventually resulted in about 100 visitors and we were both exhausted. There were visitors who come in their camper van for the weekend, a couple who came by a one hour train ride, and two American couples. I suspect they didn't just come to look at our garden! Some people sold bacon rolls, cream teas wrc. Luckily, our garden was full when we had about 8 people so we could possibly have done anything energetic like that.

Off to get ready for today's lot!

cornergran Sun 25-Jun-17 08:07:46

How lovely, ann, a real treat to look forward to. I'm almost back to my usual level of weirdness, thank you, The nasty weird has just about gone. Just as well, a busy couple of weeks coming up. Nice busy, if you see what I mean so not complaining.

Good luck today, kitty, I'm sure your pretty garden has been enjoyed by all who came yesterday and there will be more today.

Wow, not surprised you needed a sit down gagagran, that was a memorable day.

charley the weekend is an excellent time for a glass of chilled white. One bottle of wine a week surely isn't excessive? If it is then I'm in serious trouble grin.

Lona Sat 24-Jun-17 18:22:33

ann I'm so glad you enjoyed your evening out, and even 'gladder' that it did lead to another event! Onwards and upwards ☺
kitty your garden looks delightful, I'm sure you'll have had lots of visitors by now!

Gagagran Sat 24-Jun-17 18:16:26

Anyone want to join me in a cuppa? Feeling in need of a sit down after feeding the family at a running buffet.

First sitting was DH, 3xDGDs, DDiL and me then just as I sat down to eat, DD rang to see if there was any food left (she is busy with the village festival weekend being one of the organisers, so here there and everywhere!).She quickly came round to eat when I assured her there was food available.

Just as she did so, DGS appeared in his wet suit (he'd been chasing/rescuing the plastic ducks down the river in the duck race). He needed a warm shower and food - urgently!

So as the two late diners sat down, DS appeared - he'd been out on his mountain bike, up the Downs and also needed food urgently. What is it with my menfolk that they all run their inner batteries so dry that they have to eat at once?

Fortunately I had done loads of food and they were all able to tuck in with gusto. There is not much left!

I have to say that the term "running buffet never felt so applicable!

Anyway, they have all gone to the mini-festival this evening, complete with hog roast, BBQ etc. so I have come in the kitchen to enjoy the view and peace and just to be quiet for a while. Love them as I do, they are a very noisy lot!

Hope some visitors turned up to see the garden kitty and that everyone has had a good day. smile

annodomini was it this? Bullfinch

annodomini Sat 24-Jun-17 17:47:56

I've just noticed that the sun is out and there is an awful lot of pruning I need to do in the garden...maybe tomorrow!

I was out this morning, tutoring a pupil in her own home, when a jay arrived and pottered round the patio for quite a while, looking for titbits. It didn't notice us through the window and I have never been so close to a jay - a handsome bird. When I got home I looked down to the end of the garden and, on one of the tall trees across the brook, I saw an unusual bird looking straight at me. It appeared to have a russet-red front but was definitely bigger than a robin. Before I laid hands on my binoculars, it had vanished. Any idea what it might have been?

ann, what a lovely neighbour you have and what a great birthday treat she is planning for you. No-one deserves it more than you do. Is there any more news about Ruby? Surely they can't delay her operation any longer!

Swanny Sat 24-Jun-17 17:44:23

Tizliz I read it as llama soup too the first time grin

The brain can be deceived so easily sometimes - well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

soop Sat 24-Jun-17 17:34:12

Tizliz grin

I am away to finish watching the tennis. Such a shame that Andy didn't get this far. I'm wishing him success at Wimbledon.

Thank you for your company. Enjoy your Saturday evening. smile moon

Tizliz Sat 24-Jun-17 16:20:43

I love a llama soup

This is what I thought was written, read more carefully second time!

soop Sat 24-Jun-17 16:14:20

Charleyg Tara and Rory are extraordinarily well-pampered felines.
It is much cooler here in Kintyre. We'll be having roast duck tonight. MacSporran wears the chef's pinny. I was in charge of the kitchen until we retired. As he enjoys getting hot and bothered creating delicious meals, I'm happy to keep out of the kitchen. My role is as washer-upper. I prefer my role to his. wink

Charleygirl Sat 24-Jun-17 16:06:50

Ann that sounds like a perfect birthday gift- such a pity that it was not for a couple of weeks.

soop one never forgets one's pets. I think that Rory does appreciate his home. I think that Tara does as she always wants to return.

We still have not seen rain here for weeks, I was hoping for some today but none as yet.

It is cool enough to consider cooking something for supper but I have no idea what. I fancy a glass or three of wine but I consumed a bottle last weekend over 3 evenings- I must not overdo the alcohol.

soop Sat 24-Jun-17 15:55:41

That is a super photo. Yes, we do put out a few seeds on the stump. Most goes into the feeders. The stump used to be Bracken's stopping off point. She would trigger the security light whenever she used it. We would put food into her chalet. We do miss her. As does Rory.

Galen Sat 24-Jun-17 14:10:18

corner there is an app you can get for iPad, I think by Dulux, that using the camera on your iPad you pan round the room after having chosen the possible colour, and the result shows you what it would look like.its brilliant,

dustyangel Sat 24-Jun-17 14:05:31

It is where we live soop . Normally peaceful but at the moment heaving with bodies as apparently "some people" slept in too long to get to the beach early. hmm
I don't know how you manage to keep up with us all, as soon as I post there seem to be half a dozen other posts I've missed, obviously I'm a slow typist(sp)

We have a plum tree stump that I want to make into a bird table similar to yours. Do you put the food directly on to it?

One more photograph. Flappy the flamingo had a baby yesterday! It's called Happy.
Obviously DGS has had a reminder about pool safety and not taking glass down in that area.

soop Sat 24-Jun-17 13:51:30

ann I love the sound of your kind and generous friend. Yay! It's exactly what you need. Keep us updated please. sunshine

annsixty Sat 24-Jun-17 13:49:23

Hello everyone, a lot to catch up on.
kitty I hope the masses have arrived and the rain stays away, it is quite cool here.
N&G your move seems imminent, are you panicking yet? Although I think
you aren't the panicking sort, very cool and collected really.
callgirl congrats on the new kitchen it's hard work while it's being done but so worth it.
Maw probably on your way now , hope you have a lovely break.
corner feel better very soon.
soop lovely photos as ever.
I had a really good evening out, we had taxis so we shared a lovely bottle of red and a good meal, enjoyable particularly as someone else cooked it.
My friend is coping so well and keeping herself very busy , I just hope it won't leave her very flat and grieving when it is all over and she has nothing left to concentrate on.
She has very kindly, and I must say generously, offered to take me to a hotel for a night with dinner for my birthday. We are trying to fix a date. Isn't that such a lovely thought?
Must go now and think about a meal for later.

soop Sat 24-Jun-17 13:41:16

dustyangel Your post made me grin. The pool looks so inviting. Is this where you live?

Nelliemoser Sat 24-Jun-17 13:40:16
