harrigran Sun 23-Jul-17 13:49:34

Lovely news Maw, well done that boy.

soop Sun 23-Jul-17 13:21:23

A bright and cheery good afternoon to our lovely Granspal kitcheners...the sad-mood-cloud has lifted. smile

Catch-up time!

Hearty congratulations to Maw's talented grandson. You have every right to be proud of his achievement, Maw. He will have worked extremely hard to have reached the stage of being accepted for a second year of free tuition. Wow!
Also, it appears that Paw may be returning home, where he belongs...but, hopefully a proper care package will be agreed upon first.

granniqueenie My lost messages are keeping your lost messages company. wink

Galen Your sunset photo is beautiful. Has that stair lift been fixed?

I'm also sending comforting thoughts to Gaga and downsized.

N&G Any wee boy would have been in seventh heaven attending a Ferrari parade. I know that Torben would have been over the moon.

The photos of Princess Charlotte having a wobbly made me smile. Along with Prince George's pout and impatient jig, as he wished that his daddy would do something other than make polite conversation.

Iam64 Sun 23-Jul-17 12:34:44

Applause ??? well done that precious boy Maw
Downsized and Gagagran, your news is sadly increasingly becoming part of the lives that f so many of us. Take care of yourselves x

MawBroon Sun 23-Jul-17 12:02:17

Sorry to bang on a s a boasting granny but did anybody notice that DGS (7) has been chosen as 1of only 50% of his year at Royal Ballet Birmingham to continue to a second year of free ballet lessons? No mean achievement as only 1 group was chosen in the first place out of a series of workshops in Birmingham primary schools to take part in a one day workshop and only 50% of those was actually offered the opportunity to start the first year.
Retires to corner.

Charleygirl Sun 23-Jul-17 11:06:24

Yes, N&G we were reading the same post but I am not allowed to comment on it, more's the pity.

So pleased to hear that Jackson had such a great time watching all of the Maserati cars flying past. I am inclined to agree a bit with Grampy- the owner could have have driven off with that little boy beside him.

NanaandGrampy Sun 23-Jul-17 11:00:32

Morning all !!

Laughed at that Charley you must have been reading the same thread as me !! So in the same spirit I'm offering you [cake] !!

Sorry to hear your sad news Downsized and Gagagran .

Swanny the Ferrari parade was a huge success and he was thrilled to see them all. One kind driver even beckoned him over to sit inside . I was so surprised I didn't even get his picture ( although my delight was somewhat diminished when Grampy pointed out he could have sped off with the little man and my scooter wasn't a match to catch up !!)

Glad to hear its a downsized lunch Grey !

GrannieQueenie one day all those missing posts will catch up !!

Beautiful sunset Galen .

Quiet day here nothing special going on.

Have a peaceful Sunday one and all x

Charleygirl Sun 23-Jul-17 09:32:35

Another dull day here- I am sure that all my twee and pointless virtual friends will want to know that!

downsized and Gagagran I do hope that you were able to get a few hours rest.

All Tara wants to do is mump and moan- she does not want to go out- I have no idea what she wants to do.

cornergran Sat 22-Jul-17 23:33:56

There's a special place for all missing GN posts, grannyqueenie, now if I could only find it............ hmm grin. Good night all, sleep well.

grannyqueenie Sat 22-Jul-17 23:20:47

I carefully wrote a post thanking various kitcheners for their kind words about my daughter and her boyfriend and commenting on various other bits and pieces. Sadly it's disappeared, shock where do they go I wonder confused? So thanks gransnet pals, sending good wishes to all those with sore hearts tonight and to those who're at peace with the world too. Sleep well all xx

PoshGran Sat 22-Jul-17 21:57:54

Have a good & gentle night all.

Tizliz Sat 22-Jul-17 21:28:05

Sun has not set here yet. I am so far north that someone said I was in the 'here be dragons' part of the map.

A goodnight to all and hope we can all be as brave tomorrow

Galen Sat 22-Jul-17 21:16:51

My sunset tonight

MawBroon Sat 22-Jul-17 21:05:41

flowers to downsized and gagagran - so much sadness. All you can hope for is a peaceful and quiet end to their suffering sad

MawBroon Sat 22-Jul-17 21:03:24

www.birminghamhippodrome.com/calendar/the-red-shoes-2/

The Red Shoes was quite amazing- wonderful and dramatic dancing, wonderful sets, just stunning!
And the best news with superb timing is that DGS has been selected for a second year of (free) ballet lessons with Royal Ballet Birmingham! (Only 50% go through)
Paw had visitors too DD, SIL and Flynn and also 2 male friends from church so didn't miss me. His breathlessness and coughing seem to be connnected to a chest infection which is at least a good reason.
So, a good day all round smile

Greyduster Sat 22-Jul-17 20:59:58

Downsized and Gagagran my heart goes out to you both at such a sad time?. Never easy.
Well, I am off the hook regarding lunch tomorrow. DS sent a text saying that they had decided to take a rain check as they had too much to do before work on Monday and the boys were busy anyway. They are coming down next weekend instead, so tomorrow we will just be five instead of ten! The weekend after next we are having the bathroom ripped out and the place will be a mess so no-one will want to come near us - I hope!

Swanny Sat 22-Jul-17 17:55:51

Downsized and Gagagran such sad times when all you can do is wait. (((hugs))) for you both and flowers

Bellanonna Sat 22-Jul-17 16:15:33

Downsized and Gagagran. That's so sad. I do hope it's a slipping away end for them both. flowers

Gagagran Sat 22-Jul-17 15:16:10

Latest on my DBiL is that he is under the care of the Hospice nurses but in the Nursing Home where he has been for some months. They have increased his morphine patches and also give Oramorph. He is not eating - half a small glass of cold milk for lunch today and is increasingly sleeping but is still compos mentis and likes my sister to hold his hand. She has accepted the situation and said today that she will be glad when it's over for him. He doesn't seem able to say much as talking is a big effort for him.

I wish he would just sleep himself away soon now.

Galen Sat 22-Jul-17 14:46:01

And from me?
Yes I'm still lurking around.

soop Sat 22-Jul-17 14:42:53

downsized Loving vibes winging their way to you, from me.

Charleygirl Sat 22-Jul-17 14:27:17

downsized that is so sad, especially as you are so far away. You have some comfort knowing that you saw her fairly recently but left with a heavy heart, aware of the outcome. Hopefully she is not in pain and does drift off in her sleep, may I say it, sooner rather than later.

downsized Sat 22-Jul-17 13:53:37

I've just finished a huge pile of ironing which always makes me think of you, soop, as you seem to do a lot of it.

I also saw the news of that dear little boy and it seems he had suffered abuse for some time at the hands of the bully who killed him. Hard to fathom how a mother could leave her small child in the charge of such a character. Heartbreaking.

Had more sad, though not unexpected, news from my friend with whom I have spent the past three weeks in Chester. The results of her MRI show that there is nothing more that can be done for her and they think she is likely to drift off in her sleep in the coming weeks. My heart is heavy. We were friends since 1968 so go back a long way. sad

soop Sat 22-Jul-17 12:48:04

Hello to you lovely lot. It's a bit of a grey day but perhaps the sun will put in an appearance later. I'm feeling low and tearful at the moment. After that disgusting image of the dog being so cruelly maimed, I tried to pick myself up. And then, on the news, film of a five year old boy being beaten to death in a park by his step father for losing his shoe.

I shall return later. I'm spring cleaning the sitting room. At the moment, it appears to have been almost annihilated. shock

Swanny Sat 22-Jul-17 12:31:57

Good morning afternoon to all kitcheners. Hope those with BBQs planned have good weather - the sun is shining here in London but there are dark grey clouds about too. I thought it was going to rain Thursday night so didn't water my pots. Had to do them yesterday and yes, it tipped down overnight so this morning I had to go round emptying the 'saucers' underneath grin

Maw try to get Paw's discharge delayed till OT/SS have fitted all possible aids. I know you'll both be happy to have him home, and it's really good news they're talking about it, but you're both going to need a bit of extra help flowers

I hope you all have a good weekend. N&G young Jackson does make me smile with his concern for the Maserati. Enjoy the Ferrari parade and don't forget your ear plugs grin

moomin Sat 22-Jul-17 10:17:27

Good news Maw that Paw is improving, but worrying to think they may want to discharge him before you or he are ready. Hope you enjoy "Red Shoes"

Soop the cruelty picture I just couldn't bear to more than glimpse it, absolutely horrific - what mentality can carry out such evil behaviour?

Just a quick pop into the kitchen, I'm an occasional visitor but love to catch up with everyone's "goings on".
