I bought one of those shaker thingies that usually have a snowman inside. The one I gave Torben had a lighthouse inside and when shaken, the bits looked liked sea spray. Torben wanted to know whether it would break if dropped. Sure thing, it did. He cried himself to sleep that night. I went back to Lochgilphead ( a mere 70 mile round trip) to buy another. He was appreciative. He did tell me that he had learnt a lesson. All's well that ends well.

Greetings one & all, been otherwise occupied (apart from Sunday's Party) & haven't popped in for a couple of days. I managed to have a quick look in the old Kitchen before following the signs to this one - thanks for cutting the ribbon opening up Tiz.
Haven't cooked for the last three days - apart from potatoes to go cold - & supplies of suitables to eat were dwindling, but nice Mr S has just delivered, & there's a treat of big prawns & cia whatsit fancy bread to go with salad tonight or cheese & caramelised onion quiche.... there's plenty, help yourselves.
I had 36 littlies yesterday at the library, all windows open & fan out - I thought they'd wilt (the 17 adults were!) but noise singing ensued as usual & no-one was crabby.
I may cross posts with Baggs regarding hair, I hope you love your new cut. I still haven't forgiven my ex-SiL who required that I had my hair cut & have a perm so that I matched her sister who was the other bridesmaid, at DBs wedding in 1960. I had hair I could almost sit on & I was 8 years old!!! It was only a few years ago I heard of the hellish rows that led up to the deed being done.
On a lighter note DD, had her hair cut short last year & the twelve inch hank was sent to a wig charity, which I think was mentioned previously.
Lovely photos of families & hawker(?)dragonfly in the kitchen. I can't tell you how tickled pink I am at having a fully-fledged thrush in the garden again - not seen one for years - s/he is getting through a number of snails by using an easily visible step at the back of the garden, & that is very convenient 'cos the smashed shells easily get lost in the adjacent gravel.
Back to library tomorrow - "specials" multi-sensory story telling session. My apprentice has her first go this week - she'll be fine, & it'll be great to have someone else trained up as it all comes to a halt if I'm not there. The young people get so much out of it.

MacSporran is to have another scan. There is a group of swollen lymph nodes in his abdomen sitting close to the aortic aneurysm. He then return in August for a further update. Apart from night sweats, cramps and tiredness he remains absolutely positive and very cheerful. The fish and chip treat was just that. I also had a marvellous bread and butter pudding with cream. Tonight, at nine, we have a wee dram. We are the lucky ones.

When we leaving the fish restaurant, I stopped to talk to an American couple from Indianapolis. The spelling looks iffy. They are on their way to Mull...Castle Duart - seat of the clan MacLean. I told them that we had friends in the village who belong to the same clan. The lady asked where we lived. I told her, Kintyre. They then asked whether belonged to the clan MacIntyre. I so wanted to say aye!

No sign of thunder, or rain, here. Fairly humid. Cried off from the swimming lessons today, feel a bit weird, I seem to have been forgiven by the children's parents. So sat with my feet up next to a fan while the girls get their own tea - only sandwiches, they aren't comimg to harm.

Have discovered it's 5 degrees warmer where the granddaughters live than at our home. Just 8 miles away. Amazing, we get sea breezes and they don't. So we had 29, they have 34 - guess they win!

Still, the girls are happy enough to miss their swimming lessons, they will be in their garden (large) paddling pool after tea to cool off. In fact I just may join them . Can't believe the contrast with your part if the world baggs. Imagine the hair is cut by now. Really, really hope you like it and feel better very soon.

We had our thunderstorm yesterday morning, lasted about 10 minutes, then back to the sun and heat, I want another one!

Neither do I, I am sitting here melting. I cannot have a shower because I am expecting a parcel and it would be sod's law when it would arrive.

I went to the bank early pm and would have been happy to stay there. I believe that the heavy rain may arrive during the night, we certainly need it.

No doubt Tara will appear like last night, when I was on my way to have a shower.

It was really hot (for here) at lunch, but raining again now. We have double coated dogs and both have been sick today even though we walked them before it got too hot, they don't like the heat.

On the subject of photos, last night I managed to assemble my four offspring plus DGD . DD1 leaves tomorrow to continue her life in the US, and DGD leaves to spend three months with her daddy in SW Georgia, US on Saturday. I don't often cry but it will be hard to keep a stiff upper lip. I shall miss them so much.

In the photo of the five of them they are in reverse order of age, DS, DD3, DD2( with DGD) and DD1. The baby of the family is the tallest

It has been a cold wet day here (13°) so we put the heating on for a bit late morning. Felt yuck at noon (pain in arm, tired) so went for a nap. Woke up two hours later. MrB is managing to work at home while I, quite literally, need a hand, so he's going to take me round the loch in a bit for my hair appointment.

Galen pointed me in the direction of littleprincesses.org.uk so I'm going to ask the hairdresser to plait my hair, secure the plait top and bottom, and chop it off whole. then I can send it for wig-making. Someone might as well benefit from my broken arm! the bit of my hand that's visible looks very bruised at the mo. Hey ho.

I hope macsporran's blood test has gone straightforwardly, and the trek up to Oban and back.
