Anne701591 - unfortunately paternal grandparents are second class citizens, so to speak. I am one. I am older than the other gps and that might be the reason I’m not asked to babysit that often. There are no photos of me with the children on display. It may be due to the fact that my husband and I are divorced and he has remarried. So it’s awkward I guess. But there you go - we’ve got to get into the queue ………

Hello and welcome. There are a few of us in Leicestershire- I'm in the North of the county.

I was evacuated to Loughborough in Leicestershire way back in 1941 and although I went back to London after the war I got married to a Shepshed chap and moved back to the Midlands in 1950. Many tales to tell of the old days.
I am now in my 91st year and been on the net for well over 20 years. Made many lovely cyber friend relatioships worldwide through my WW2 website and still in touch with those who have not passed away.

Just joined and would like your opinion. We are paternal grandparents. We live 600 miles away from our granddaughter who is 5. We see them 3 or 4 times a year. My son and daughter in law are very good about keeping in touch and our granddaughter loves us. We all get together for her birthday, both sets of grandparents. Her maternal grandparents, one is a step, make a photo book for her every year with milestones. Its a lovely book, but for the last 4 years it only has pictures of my daughter in laws family. Her mother, stepfather, Aunt, Uncle and grown up cousins. The first year our other son and we, were included. I just feel a little left out. Please tell me what you think. She is the only grandchild on both sides.

My apologies for going off the radar for a while but I have devolped an addiction to the GN games ?. I still love to read all of the posts.
We are having a slightly worrying time at the moment with Dad. He is in hospital after suffering from a stroke. He's lost some of his mental capacity but hopefully with the correct care it will return.

I’m sitting watching Grand Designs while my husband, Orlin is watching football in the kitchen.
Hope England win but can’t be bothered watching the whole thing.

Nice to meet you and I too live in Leicestershire. I was evacuated here way back in 1941 to Loughborough but unfortunately Loughborough has gone the same way as many other cities and towns with shops closing and other businesses being taken over, even before the virus struck.

It's a small world as the saying goes. My parents moved here when I was a toddler, about 3yrs old. Mum passed away 3yrs ago she was 84. Dad is still with us he's 80 now

Hello welcome this is a nice place to be and there are some very supportive people here.

We had our first meal since lockdown last Sunday. It was great to have the food brought to your table. Can't wait now until we can go back indoors again
