Had X-ray, now comes the difficult part, getting the results

You are able to obtain copies of the x-ray images and of the consultant's report through PALS. The images may not be of much use to you unless you have a radiologist in your family, but the report could be informative depending on what the reason for the XR in the first place.
I take the view that if anything serious were to be found they'd be on the phone to you. Well, you'd hope so anyway.

I had my knees x rayed several weeks ago. I had an email from the surgery saying to make an appointment to discuss the result. This was a week after I’d seen a doctor to discuss the result. There wasn’t a picture of the x ray on my notes, just a description of what they’d found which meant nothing to me and I doubt if the GP understood it either. She said she’d refer me to the hospital for physio etc. Dread to think how long I’ll have to wait for that. I have seen a physio privately who did understand what it said. I, too, was very impressed by how quickly they sent me for the x Ray. We can make an online request for either a telephone appointment or to see a GP but it seems to take two weeks to get one. The first telephone appointment I arranged never happened due to staff shortages. I used to work for the surgery and can’t believe how it’s changed. We used to provide such a personal, caring service.

DH had an x-ray on his back three weeks ago and every time he rang up about the results, he was told that they hadn't come through. Yesterday he found the results on his NHS App. "Normal. No Action". Good news on one hand, but not really helpful when he is still in so much pain. I really think he needs to see a back specialist as he's spent hundreds on physiotherapy since December. I'm going with him to his next appointment with the doctor.

I have just looked up PALS on t'internet and it says nothing about getting copies of X-rays (not that I have a tame radiologist to hand). It seems to be some sort of complaints body.

I know it isn't "serious" as such. Eight years ago I had my hips x-rayed and was told there was nothing wrong. The nothing has got a lot worse and another x-ray was arranged after the doctor read the "nothing wrong" report - which actually said Moderate to severe Osteoarthritis. He thinks my right hip is partially dislocating and now my left is beginning to have the same symptoms. It's difficult hopping on no legs.

I went to a walk in clinic last October on a Thursday. On the Monday morning I had a phone call from the hospital and went for a CT scan the following day.

Hopefully if it was anything serious you would have heard by now.

Just going to say the same, check out the NHS app.
Also, depends on your area, but some Trust's contract "walk in" XRays to other Geographical areas some Abroad hence slightly longer getting the results back.

I was told by the hospital that the results would be with my surgery in a couple of days but the surgery said wait a week before booking an appointment, which I did.

A while back I tried to sign up to the NHS app on my laptop. I couldn't complete the process. The strange thing was, near the beginning of the process it asked if I had a mobile number (I don't) and directed me to the "Landline only" section, then right towards the end it decided it needed a mobile number. Scuppered. I couldn't provide the necessary I.D. stuff either. I have neither a camera nor a scanner.

If you don’t have a phone or pad I m not sure you can use the app
The app is really helpful and everything is on it very quickly including results etc

My surgery takes emails at 8am with or without a photo to accompany it Within a couple of hours you get a telephone consultation back or an appointment (probably not with your own doctor) if it’s something that can be sorted online ie I had a poisoned toe sent a photo got a phone call a couple of hours later doctor agreed it was infected from the picture I sent and a prescription was sent through to my appointed pharmacy and by late morning I had anti biotics

Always chase up results or referrals [especially referrals] because they do slip through the cracks. Especially referrals. We had one doctor who was notorious for saying he'd refer you and then forgetting to do so.

Third time lucky! No "try again tomorrow" when I called today. I have a telephone appointment next Monday with the correct Doctor. That will do me.

Your Gp should be ringing you if it shows anything wrong.
Had an MRi a few weeks ago, I rang X-Ray department for a report, then in turn forwarded to my Gp. That afternoon surgery phoned to make an appointment to see Gp (two weeks) if I had left it, it would have been sent weeks later, plus another three for the results, so probably September.

We already know there is something wrong Mt61. He wants to see how much things have changed in the past 8 years so he can decide what treatment might be appropriate.
I wasn't aware one could get the report sent directly to the patient.

Believe me, I have obtained x-ray, CT, PET, Ultrasound, you name it by starting off with PALS. Each health region may have different protocols but PALS is the front door. I am lucky enough to have a consultant orthopaedic surgeon for a son and a consultant radiologist for a daughter-in-law and they give us detailed reports that you'd need to pay a lot for, but the images come via PALS in the first instance.

Update - the x-ray shows some osteo arthritis but it is now agreed it is most likely a tendon problem and I now have an excercise programme. Hopefully things will improve.
