The cost of a haircut has doubled

I don't think I've ever had a haircut which has only taken 15 minutes. It explains why they're cheaper than mine.

Mines done in about 15 mins.Suppose it depends on the style, my hair is just shoulder length so easy to trim all round.

South East, I pay £27 for a dry cut.Not many salons will do this, most want you to have shampoo and blow dry which costs double.

For people who have their hair done in a salon and paying less than £25, how long does it take?

My hairdresser usually takes 45 minutes with a few minutes to brush up, clean and take my money.

Minimum wage is £12.21 and I would hope trained hairdressers get more than that. With NI, holiday/sick pay and the costs involved in renting/heating/maintaining the salon, I don't see how any hairdresser charging £25 can break even, never mind make a profit.

My Goodness! Looks like I should be counting my blessings, paying £24. I so rarely get my hair cut, I suppose the increases mounted up and caught me by surprise.

It took me a few days to get over the shock of what I would have to pay, before I went and got it done. No more hair dipping in soup or catching in zips, not until sometime next year, anyway.

I had it in bunches or a ponytail over the Summer. It is getting to "having it just long enough to keep my neck warm" weather now. I like to air dry it and long hair takes forever to dry in the Winter.

On Merseyside the going rate is £45 for a shampoo, cut and blow dry. I get my hair cut professionally once a year - in between if I feel it’s getting too long, I just chop a bit off with scissors.

I had a cut wash & blow dry the other day was £40.
The colours were £95 eek!

I pay my hairdresser £15 for a cut.

i am in glasgow, it costs £15 for a dry cut but i always give them £20 as they take me as a walk in with no appointment.

I have a hairdresser come to my home. I wash it before she arrives and pat £23. It was £15 but gone up since start of the year.

It suits me as I'm pretty much housebound,plus I like her very much.

I pay £17.00 for a dry cut. My hair is short. It seems like a bargain compared to what some others pay.

£20 for a dry cut every 6-7 weeks. My hair is fine, thinning and short.

The cheapo hairdresser has long since closed.
I used to go for a trim .
Now I trim off a bit of hair when I colour it.
It looks okay ,but perhaps a bit old fashioned as it's always in a bun .

Pre covid wash, cut and dry was £24. Now £44. Some local salons are even more expensive.

I live near Southampton and go to a mobile hairdresser at her house who charges 12.00 for a dry cut and 45.00 for a semi permanent colour with highlites on top. I have been a customer of hers for at least 10 years. I travel a few miles to her house altho she would come out but this way its easier for her to fit me between customers nearer to her.

Pre-Covid, just over 5 years ago, it cost me £12 to have a simple, dry (maybe a spray bottle to damp down) haircut. Nothing fancy, just cutting off the excess length since the previous one. I have straight hair, nothing complicated.

I need about 6" removed to stop it getting caught in zips and being a winter nuisance, just back to shoulder length. £24! Seems a tad excessive to me. We have two hairdressers, what used to be the expensive one and what used to be the cheaper one (the one I use, naturally) and both charge exactly the same. What do you have to pay where you live?

I have really short hair, get it washed and cut, no blow drying or anything, cost £45, so I'll swap you !!

I live in a relatively small town with an elderly lady who cuts my hair for a very reasonable price but she is soon to retire when I expect the prices to increase.

I dont think that's expensive. I pay that for cut and blow dry..I have short hair.

Inspired by this I just booked a dry trim for £28 with also 20% off offer so about £22 . Quite enough . Have quite long hair cut about every ten months and mostly wear in pony tail or up in a claw . The trim of fringe sets me right for my at home trimming until another hair dressing app . That’s all I pay . Used to be ten pence when I first went for a trim at 15 !

£25 north east comes to my house uses my water electric and shampoo conditioner products.

A dry cut every month is £10.00 for me.

Oh dear ... I meant a blow dry, of course, not a blow cut.

If you got £12 you were really lucky. Mine has gone up by £2 since covid and I think that is great given the electricity cost must have done
