Help deciding baby girl name

They’re both dreadful.

Luna is another very popular name.
I work in a Primary school.
Kids don't make fun of the Lunas.
It's become too common.

Daisy May was the granny in The Beverly Hillbillies…

Not a fan of Lucy

Lucy of course also comes from "Light".

I prefer Liora to Twyla.
Twyla sounds a bit twee to me. It also depends on the accent used as to whether is could sound rather "rough". (Think "Twigh-lugh").

Chiara or Lucia - both also meaning/versions of "light" are both able to be strong and soft and might be worth considering.

Lucia pronounced with an "ch" sound as in Italy is rather lovely name and can transfer well into adulthood.

Whatever you choose she will be loved and the name will fit her over time.

Apparently Twyla Boogeyman is a character in Monster High!

Can't say I'd want my daughter named after her.

It can be fun «dating» names from when film or tv stars made them famous (hence Luna-did you know it’s one of if not the most popular dogs name?)
And what about the Beyoncés and Chardonnays growing up today?
Charlene (from Neighbours) is another, nothing dates quite so quickly as fashion!

I'd go classic and timeless

It's hard to decide on a name that isn't anodyne and shared by every other kid in the school. On the other hand, you do have to consider whether your children are going to spend the rest of their lives spelling it and/or being called names. A friend's daughter has decided on Luna for her little girl and simply won't hear a thing against it. My friend is picturing the child running around the playground followed by kids chanting, "Loony! Loony!" They do still do that, you know, despite all the current admonishments being spouted by woke child experts about protecting children's self-esteem.

I've never come across either of your choices before so both names sound 'out there' to me.

Nor would I. Something from the bible or ancient Greek or Roman literature always works for me.
Imagine this child has to go through school and work with a name that will carry them through all situations.
Helen Josephine was my choice.

Please, whatever you do, don't call her Emily...every second girl in UK secondary schools is called Emily.
Also, avoid Ellie,Ella, etc....

Sorry, but I don’t think I’d saddle any baby with Liora or Twyla, unless I really wanted her to have a lifetime of people asking how to spell or pronounce it.

Both those names look like anagrams.
