An itchy back - how to prevent it happening please.....

I frequently get a maddeningly itchy back.

In a hot shower, I scrub my back fairly lightly, pretty much every day with an old fashioned bristled bath-brush with a long handle. And shower gel or soap.

But every day, at some stage I'll get a maddening itch on my back! Sometimes I can reach to scratch it, sometimes there's someone around to scratch it for me, sometimes I can rub up against a doorpost like a kind of farm-animal!

But how can I prevent it happening in the first place? Moisturiser? Not easy to apply it to my own back.....any other suggestions pls......... gratefully received.

Dear Phoenix, I shall think of you in the morning when I am in my heated good quality towelling bathrobe mooching around sorting laundry, drinking coffee, coming on to Gransnet, anything really!! Bother, hospital appointment 10.10 tomorrow morning-not so much mooching then.

I too get itchy all over,I have very dry skin,I have used aqueous cream, instead of soap,it comes in a bar form as well,I use diprobase as a moisturiser also, but I put it on when I am still wet and wrap a towel around me ,I have my breakfast whilst it is soaking in...I use a sponge on a handle to moisturise my back....I am as soft as a babies bum..grin
