Shingles vaccination?

I had shingles several years ago and saw GP very quickly on the advice of my hairdresser (I had an odd "spot" on my hairline). GP told me it was shingles and gave me an anti-viral jab, after congratulating me on my wise hairdresser! It didn't develop into anything serious, so I'm very grateful to her. I shall certainly have the jab when it is offered.
I did think having had chicken-pox left one susceptible to shingles. Can anyone confirm this?

Have shingles at the moment according to the pharmacist appt with gp on Monday I am not so bad just a mild dose I think but will have the jab if offered...............

I will definitely take up the offer of the vaccination too. I had shingles on my head and face several years ago and still suffer from the after effects of it now.

I will have it when offered. I had shingles about fifteen years ago and would not wish it on anyone.

I shall be up for the jab as soon as it is available here - my doctor thinks September is likely. Coo - about the same time as the annual influenza one!

I've had it twice. Once very mildly the other more painful!

I think if you have had shingles whether seventy or not should be offered the injection. I had shingles last year luckily not as bad as it could have been.

I will have it as soon as it's offered, having seen the - sometimes recurrent - misery it can cause in sufferers.

I will take it up the moment it iss offered. i noticed the availability of this vaccine about a year ago and the onky reason I didnt have it done privately was because I was told it was about to be approved on the NHS.

My mother, aunt and DD have all had shingles and having seen how they were affected by it, short and long term, Lleft me willing to oay for the jab if necessary.

Despite my OAP status I am still working as part of the practice nursing team at our local surgery. Personally I hope that we can give it alongside flu jabs. If not we will be buried......

I will have it. I have had shingles twice, once at 10 years old and again when I was 60. I never want to go through that pain again.

I will certainly have it if it is offered....but I've a few years to go to 70 ;)
I have seen too many older friends and relatives suffer with this horrid disease.

I will also certainly have it as soon as I am eligible.
Nelliemoser-As far as I am aware, it is starting in September but not in every part of the country to begin with. I cannot remember the finer points of it.

I will certainly have it when I am eligible . My daughter had shingles last Christmas and it drained all her energy. A friend who lives in Dorset says it is being offered now at her surgery for those between 65 and 70. Odd !

I will when I'm eligible. I had shingles about 25 years ago, it was excruciating and I hope never to have it again.
