warts on children's faces

I hope this helps someone that may look on the internet for help with warts on their children's faces etc.
We went to the doctor about the warts on my daughter's hands which had spread to her chin and one was coming up on her lip. The first doctor we saw said we couldnt do anything until she was a teenager as the only option was to freeze it off which is painful and she is only three.

As the wart on her lip then started to spread to create another one I started to get worried that they spread all over her face and so made an appointment to see the head of the surgery. This doctor prescribed a mild cream called 'Crystacide'. We tried it for a month and the warts have gone on hands and face! No trace at all.

2. Dont be palmed-off with having to wait years to do something about it. Go back to the doctor and get this cream!

I had one that started growing above my lip and had images of me looking like the wicked witch of the north after a few years but woke up one morning to find it had gone. Great believer in wart charming, I am. Don't they get a strand of hair, put it round the wart and then bury the hair in the garden [or something like that].

I had a pony years ago that had warts on his nose (I know it's not the same but . . .) and I was told to dab them with iodine every day. This worked and within a few weeks the warts had shrivelled and gone

Cryotherapy is very painful --- I know!
I used to 'charm' warts and it worked!!!!!!!!!

Warts used to be treated with salicylic acid or cryotherapy - not sure about children though, particularly on the face.

I certainly wouldn't just leave it be - the child should be referred to a specialist.

What about the banana skin theory? Strap small piece of banana skin (inside down) to wart overnight and it should soon disappear

We once had a local builder who averred that the best cure for warts - and most other ills - was to use one's own urine. Sorry to drag down the level of discussion. If I was desperate I would try it, but perhaps not on a child.

From my experience children rarely comment or notice things like that on others. Maybe a comment once to ask about it (natural curiosity) and if told the facts just carries on! So hopefully poachergran he will be fine and it will not impact on his social life.

Poor little chap - I have never heard of this.

My DD hadand still has a wee tumour on her bottom lip - it originates in a nerve and can never be removed without digging into the nerve and making more of a mess of her face. She lives with it quite happily. Let us hope this little chap can get used to his warts while his body fights them off. If he is really distressed by them it might be worth asking for an appointment with a dermatologist.
