My 87 year old godmother needs a new electric blanket and when I looked at them on John Lewis website the manufacturer recommended that if you had a pace maker fitted you did not use one. She had a pacemaker fitted over 10 years ago and has used an electric blanket during this time. Very conflicting advice on google.......I don't want to blow her up in her bed!!!!! Any info gransnetters please confused

I would only use an electric blanket to heat the bed before I got in it, and I would then unplug it.

Your local trading standards office often does electric blanket safety checks, so they should know about that, I would think.

Had another thought! I will call the pacemaker clinic at hospital where she has her check ups and see what they say....

GMA I hope you can sort it.

All sorted! Just rang the pacemaker clinic and they told me that an electric blanket was safe to use if you have a pacemaker fitted, just observe common sense rules! I.e. turn off before getting in bed! Makers put a warning on packaging just to cover their backs!!
