There is a discussion about Omeprazole on another thread. Might be worth looking at if you suffer with accident reflux or heartburn etc.

I do not look as freakish as that makes me sound.

I had the same problem but now I find my, doctor prescribed, 10mgs daily Omeprazole does the trick admirably.

I am a few pounds overweight, according to the online charts, so I watch this by mainly sensible eating and exercise.

My personal theory is that, because the top third of me has settled more closely down upon the lower two thirds, my stomach is squashed upwards, thereby causing acid to come up more easily. My doctor laughed when I told her that. (They don't know everything obviously hmm)

I've recently been diagnosed with silent reflux - actually laryngeal reflux, as the acid affects my throat and larynx - so I get hoarseness, a feeling of a lump at the back of my throat and some discomfort in my oesophagus, but not heartburn, as such. The diagnosis was confirmed after I saw an ENT consultant and I'm now on medication, which seems to be helping.

If you're getting it every day, I would suggest that you see your GP about it. Watching your diet is fine - that's part of the solution - but you may need medication to control the amount of acid that you're producing and you don't want to run the risk of damaging your oesophagus, which can happen.

Hope you get on OK.

I get it a lot and make sure I always have Rennies or such in my bag. It is definitely worse after any overindulgence - can't eat a lot and drink alcohol -I have to choose which I want (doesn't always stop me though!)
I've heard it said that a sign of age is thinking twice about pizza - instant heartburn! I also have trouble with pastry. I think it is also connected to worry - I get it more if I'm stressed. Gosh, I sound a right old .......!hmm
