Is it Evolution?

Research has found that between the mid eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the average European man's height increased by 11cms (over 4ins in old money). This phenomenon is praised as evolutionary being a result of better nutrition. I wonder why, when the increase is round the girth rather than the height, this is regarded as terrible. Could we be naturally evolving into tall fat people?

Thank you so much for your thoughtful note; I truly appreciate you taking the time to say it kindly. I’m awfully sorry if my midnight pottering about the older threads has caused any upset;sad that was never my intention. I’ve been a quiet lurker on Gransnet for years, enjoying everyone’s wisdom from the shadows, and recently plucked up the courage to join in properly.
I shall take your words to heart and be a little more mindful from now on.

OliveaRema don’t worry, lots of people don’t realise the date
Me too (mind you I don’t know how these old threads are found because they won’t open up for me ….ever)

Worth a new discussion anyway

It’s definitely food/drink if you look at Chinese in China they are a fairly slight, short breed of folks but the Chinese in America particularly and Europe are much bigger in build height and structure.

Carry on posting please we need lots of views/ opinions/ ideas
