I have a problem with fine pale facial hair and would like some help on how people have coped with this,it is on my chin and cheeks and top lip.any help would be most useful as it is starting to worry me a lot

I use an epillator. It's a little painful the first time but then you get used to it. The hair is finer so therefore it's quicker to remove each time. There are lots of models, I have a Braun. I think I looked on Google for epillator reviews before I decided.

boat sorry I am not being flippant, but I have quite dark hair and I have just about given up and I think a balaclava is my only option.

Is it noticeable to others or just to you?

What else I would suggest you think about is.
How old are you?
How long have you had it?
Is it increasing rapidly?
If it is a sudden thing I would suggest you see a doctor to check if you have any hormone inbalance.

All good advice. I have a slight moustache and because I am very dark it is noticeable. When I notice a bit of five-o'clock shadow I just bleach it.

I use an epilator too, sherish. As you say, quite painful at first but you soon get used to it, and so much easier than creams or (heaven forbid!) shaving.

glass, sorry you have the same problem, but at least dark hair responds to laser treatment which fair hair does not. I know it's pricey though...

glass grin! I've got the same problem, and the hair is quite wiry, though it is white! I bought one of those Finishing Touch things, but really all it is, is a pretty shaver shaped like a pen. I've just run my fingers over my chin....shock blush! I sometimes use wax strips to remove the hair, but I have quite sensitive skin and feel like I'm removing a layer of it each time I rip the strip away. Perhaps an epilator, but are they not quite expensive, sherish?

Ana Sun 09-Feb-14 17:57:28

Mine's a Wizzit, about £14.99, but they can get expensive at places like Boots etc.

Ana Sun 09-Feb-14 17:58:11

(Depending on the make, of course)

I've just had my top lip threaded and I would recommend it (I shaved it before) shock
Although it's quite painful, it's so quick that it doesn't matter and there's no stubble. It's supposed to stop the hair growing back.

Boatyard Sun 09-Feb-14 18:12:39

Has anyone tried threading on their facial hair, not just eyebrows?

ffinnochio Sun 09-Feb-14 18:27:40

I have v. fair soft down on my chin line and top lip. I leave well alone. Occasionally there is a rogue white bristle or two which I pluck out when I eventually notice them.

annodomini Sun 09-Feb-14 18:29:29

I watched it being done once, and was astonished at the speed of the procedure - the client had quite a lot of dark downy hair rather like sideburns.

FlicketyB Sun 09-Feb-14 20:12:05

Left to itself I would have a beard to rival DH's. It is dark and bristly do for over 30 years I have been having electrolysis. I started out weekly and now only go once or twice a year, but even then new hairs constantly make the progression from fine and downy to bristly and long.

Flowerofthewest Sun 09-Feb-14 20:25:07

I pluck the odd one. What does threading do? how and what does it look like when threaded. Or is it pulled out after threading? Sorry to be so ignorant

harrigran Sun 09-Feb-14 23:48:52

I always pluck facial hairs, at first it was time consuming but they get finer and fewer as time goes on.

Thank you Flower that was the question I didn't like to ask.

Marelli: I bought my epillator New in the box from eBay. I think I paid around £20 but they last ages. Well worth the money.

Boatyard Mon 10-Feb-14 08:36:04

Nellie moser ,at moment people say they cannot see it but when the sun shines or in bright day light it can be seen, has only just appeared in the last couple of months due to a bad spell of anxiety, the doctor says use creams, have tried this but not too keen, any body had good results with hair removal creams and hair inhibitor, thanks

harrigran Mon 10-Feb-14 11:30:49

Laser hair removal is only really successful with dark hair.

Marelli Mon 10-Feb-14 11:48:46

Thank you sherish. I'll have a look on Ebay. Checked on Amazon, but they were really quite dear.

Marelli Mon 10-Feb-14 12:10:19

Got one! An Epilady (£20.99) smile

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 10-Feb-14 14:32:17

glass grin

Boatyard Mon 10-Feb-14 19:26:31

Does the braun epilator make the hair grow faster like shaving?very nervous of use on face

Ana Mon 10-Feb-14 19:28:27

Neither method makes hair grow faster (or thicker). Old wives' tale!
