Heatwave Hits, songs to sweat to!
Venezuela earthquakes, is £2million all the UK can afford to send for the relief effort?
…who are not taking blood pressure tablets, statins, arthritis drugs, anti-depressants, or any other regular medication? Are there any who still choose to sit on the floor, turn cartwheels, will spend an entire evening dancing, don't wear false teeth or partials, and don't really have any aches and pains?

Not enough, actually! I can't think what 'exercise' that could be, unless you'r a contortionist, Grannyknot!
'you're'
I'm not suggesting that there is any virtue in not being on medication – only good fortune. It's just that I have noticed rather a lot of posts about aches and pains, bp tablets and statins recently and felt the need to restore the balance.
Mamie Yes, I can do the straight leg up in the air holding the inside of the foot bit, sitting and standing, with either leg – but not both at once, especially when standing.
I haven't tried the splits for a long time but will have a go later today. I certainly used to be able to do them.
I shall be 64 in May.
63 in a fortnight... no prescription drugs [ wink]
...occasional aches & pains, loveto dance, can sit on the floor and frequently do in school and at home..less lithe in standing up again. Never mastered a cartwheel but can touch palms on floor without bending knees!
Does wine and chocolate count as medication?
Otherwise I, 51 and menopausal, do not take anything but have never been athletic or gymnastic in any way.
68 and a bit. I was taking only Lanzoprazole (for side effects after chemo) until about four years ago when arthritis set in.
Now, waiting for a knee replacement, and then a THR, the pain is such that I take Naproxyn and co codamol (which I limit strictly)
I will dance, and regret it the next day, but can't jive anymore. Theseus and I learned to jive together when we were at school...
I'm only in my early fifties, so I don't suppose it's surprising that I'm not on any regular medication, still have all my own teeth etc.
However, I do have aches and pains. I have done my back permanent damage through too much allotment digging over the last 12 years. By the time I realised that I was causing permanent damage it was too late.
As for sitting on the floor, I still find that easy - it's getting up again that I struggle with!
But I can't be totally decrepit yet because I can still get my legs into the lotus position.
I can't stop myself - ever since I found I could do it as a teenager I have to keep trying occasionally to see if I can still do it. Of course, one of these days I could end up stuck in that position!
No meds., no aches and pains, and I get straight out of bed with no hint of stiffness. I prefer sitting on the floor to anywhere else and jump into spontaneous dance whenever a dancey song I like comes on the radio or TV
I never could turn cartwheels but I'm a very bendy yogi!
Great to see that we're not all dependent on prescription meds and full of achey joints, as it sometimes seems that way from forum posts on here.
Pittcity they count as supplements not medication.
I take thyroxine, that's all.
I can do all the tricks except the cartwheel.
I've got a dental implant, does that count or not?
And I'm 64.
absent it is usually jingl who starts threads with questions as titles, and which give no clue as to what the thread might be about.
Don't you start as well.
Walk miles. Take thyroid medication. Can't do splits, but i can spread my arms out sideways. That's nearly as good isn't it??
janeainsworth Sorry.
64 next month. Don't take any medication at all. Do take supplements though. Spiralina has kept me feeling great and cold free for years. Go to gym and walk and walk and walk.
Pushing 68, no medication (migraines don't count), can't do cartwheels or splits, but I can sit on the floor, holding both feet, and straighten legs in a wide V shape, and balance. (It's taken me 30 years to get my legs straight!)
I do have aches and pains though.
No false teeth can dance all night, despite creaky knees sadly been on b pressure meds for several years which have increased over least 5 years due to stress hey ho want to stay alive so as approaching bit 60'age my father died they keep watch on me would rather take. Meds and stay breathing !
In that case Aka I am taking supplements regularly.....and they haven't affected my teeth as yet
If I get on the floor, I can't get up again!
Nearly 65, have been on BP tablets for about 10 years (as have all my siblings). Not really overweight, can still run for the bus, go to zumba etc. Envious of all you who have decent teeth - lost mine through neglect as a child.
I'm 70, on BP meds, all my own teeth and can touch the floor with my hands with straight legs. Never could do cartwheels or splits and don't intend to start now
. Have stiff knees but otherwise ok, we manage a good long walk two or three times a week.
Yes indeed getting to 60-ish with no aches and pains and no chronic ailments requires a lot of luck, and maybe come judgement as well. But having had breast cancer in my 40s I know the part that luck can play.
Eyes - needed reading glasses in my 40s. Teeth - always been vulnerable - several lost to gum disease despite efforts and expense trying to keep them going. BP - shoots up without medication (Get that from my mum)
The rest is good but I do have to exercise to keep it that way. Energetic walking most days (including some hills) and, to keep lower back in good order, daily exercises with ankle weights.
I've been doing volunteer NT gardening once a week. After 2 hours I am usually good for nothing other than helping with the quiz during the gardeners' afternoon break. But this week, for the first time, I felt like I could tackle another hour.
I often sit on the floor.
I have been more active than most people my age all my life. I've also been taking painkillers almost daily since my late teens. Ergo, being an active body isn't necessarily a preventer of anything. Those of you who are medication free are lucky. Make the most of it.
Yes there are absent. I play football with my Grandson, I don't think I will ever get 'old' as such, my Dad was the same.
When My Mum died I was a volunteer for Age Concern. My Dad was saying how lonely he felt and I persuaded him to attend one of their meetings, as we entered the hall he stopped in his tracks turned to me and said "all these people are old" now he was 77 at the time!! I am now the same and get what he meant to say
I'm fortunate in that I don't take any medication and have just turned 64 this week - still feeling 14 most of the time. I was tempted to try a handstand (once my speciality) but then thought I might regret it. (I visualised the embarrassing conversation in A & E
) However, I have just been regularly dancing the night away on holiday with no ill effects. I often sit on the floor and never really thought about it - but I probably take longer to get up again. I agree that it sometimes seems the case that everyone our age is suffering from something - glad to see there are so many of us still very active.
