Apparently he has been sleepy all day, just making noises and wriggling about, but the staff do not seem worried. It will no doubt take him several days to recover from such a long and traumatic operation.

Hoping for continued good news, Mishap The family must be encouraged by his progress so far.

News so far is good - he is able to move his arms and legs and recognises people and can speak - so it really does look as though they have managed to remove the tumour and to preserve many of his functions. I believe there is a wait of a few days to confirm the nature of the tumour and the next stage of treatment will depend on those results. Everyone was on tenterhooks yesterday and so relieved when he came round and the news was good.

My DD's best friend has a 19 month old son who had just been diagnosed with a brain stem tumour, which is being operated on as I write. It is too sad for words and we can hardly bear to think about it.

The family have set up a donations website, as the parents are self-employed and will have to take time off for several months during his recovery. This is the link: http://biggie.ereal.net/bill/

Any money that is left over after their expenses will go to maintaining the charity-run hostel where parents can stay to be near their children.

I hope you do not think it is inappropriate to post this; in which case please ignore it and accept my apologies. But we are all so upset that we just want to do all we can.
