A friend phoned this morning. She hadn't been feeling well for a couple of weeks, and has been diagnosed with shingles. She is in great pain. It's around her waist.
I had it years ago when I was only 30, and it only lasted a couple of weeks, followed by a couple more of tiredness. But I have heard that when you are older (she is a good bit older than me at 75) it can last for months. She would really like to know what to expect, as she had visitors due from America and has no energy to rush round preparing for them. Should she cancel, or does it vary hugely?
