Feels like I'm sinking into a spell of depression. Struggling to find enthusiasm for anything atm. Ready for bed already.
Combination of feeling less than fit, dark nights and crap weather.

Hope the beta blockers sort out the SVT, Mishap and you have a decent night's sleep.

If they help you feel less anxious about your health it'll be a big step towards recovery.

pompa glad you have been able to reduce your pain killers.

Mishap sorry you've had such bad nights. Hope the beta blockers help. Glad you mood has lifted a bit. Hope tonight is a better night

Mishap - I'm pleased to hear you've been prescribed Beta-B's. Hopefully they'll settle your heart down to a constant rhythm - thereby trouncing the anxiety inducing waywardness of your heartbeats.

Since taking them, Mr.F has not had a tachycardia episode. The last one was a blue-lighter - so thank goodness for BB's. smile

Hope your little bit of hope continues to blossom.

I was about to ask whether you could get as much sunlight and fresh air as possible (even without the SAD light - or as well as it) because getting more sunshine will help your vit D, and getting more oxygen into your system will help with healing and with your circulation, which must in turn be useful to your heart.

The other thing is to somehow relax Being anxious will make your heart beat harder, which doesn't help.

How do you relax? What makes you feel good? Now is the time to pull in all the old comforts - and also to do things that take your mind out of your situation and into a good place, so that your body can get on with recovery without hindrance.

All the best.

Just read your last post. Fingers crossed here too that the beta blockers do the trick. I am willing them to work for you smile

Agus Fri 21-Nov-14 11:29:09

I'm not surprised you feel pig sick Mishap. Someone who has had the same op as you has no post op pain on day 4 after invasive surgery! Sounds quite miraculous.

Sorry to hear you had another sleepless unsettling night. I know you have heard it all before but deal with each day at a time and try not to worry about your appointment in December. It's a good while away and by which time you will have healed more.

Tegan Fri 21-Nov-14 11:27:19

Mishap; given that you probably aren't getting much in the way of sunlight these days would it be worth investing in a light box? Heart problems can cause depression; I don't know what the link is but I'm sure it's not just just psychological. You're a lady with so many interests..I hate to see you not enjoying them sad.

Mishap Fri 21-Nov-14 11:21:43

GP has just called in response to my email telling him what has been happening and he is putting out a beta blocker for me to take, as he agrees that I cannot go on with this situation until the date of my appointment. So that is good news - let us hope it will settle things down - at least it gives me a bit of hope of a respite from this. Fingers tightly crossed.
Thank you for your supportive posts.

Can't think of anything to say to improve things for you Mishap. Glad your mood is better and remember we are all with you in spirit. flowers

I have superpowers obviously pompa. sunshine

pompa Fri 21-Nov-14 10:40:36

Mishap, crossed posts. Sorry you have had a bad night, good that you ae still positive.
No two people will recover from major surgery at anything like the same rate, try not to compare yourself to others, just concentrate on your improvements, however slow they may seem. If the sun is up where you are, try to get outside and enjoy it while you can.

Mishap Fri 21-Nov-14 10:36:14

Morning pompa - glad that things are moving on for you.

Unfortunately I have had a dreadful night with three episodes of SVT which thankfully we managed to control eventually, but there has been very little sleep going on and I am totally wiped out and about to settle on the sofa for a snooze. I just do not know what to do about this as I have two appointments coming up , the second of which is on 18th December. I doubt whether anything will be sorted this side of Christmas by the time they have done whatever investigations they think might be needed. It feels like a long time when these scary things keep happening.

I have just spoken to the wife of a friend who had his hip replaced on Tuesday and he is in NO PAIN and is walking round his room without crutches!!! I am 8 weeks post-op and still have groin pain from the op and of course the pain in my knee caused by the exercises. I am pig sick - although of course very pleased for him.

The good news is that my mood has lifted a bit - probably just as well with all this going on!

pompa Fri 21-Nov-14 10:36:06

Sun is up (thanks to KL), time to head out and sow my broad beans, sure the sun and fresh air will work wonders.
I hope you guys all have a good day. back later for brew

kittylester Fri 21-Nov-14 10:15:33

Good morning! Hope you are all feeling a little better today! Glad the pain is easier pompa. sunshine - sorry it's not real!

pompa Fri 21-Nov-14 08:55:35

Good Morning all - hope the morning is better for you all.
I am amazed, I have dropped all but my bedtime dose of painkillers and I am in hardly any more discomfort than i was taking 8 a day. In fact after last nights dose I noticed the side effects more that the pain, so I will swap to paracetamol tonight.
The hip is responding well to ice - Mrs P isn't though, grumbled loudly when while she was settling into her electric blanket warmed pit, my ice pack fell on her side !!! Three nights now I have slept through. smile

Mishap glad you had a better night last night. I slept well for the first time in days and went for a long walk in the sunshine this morning. Unbelievably, I feel a bit better today. I wouldn't have thought it possible yesterday when I was feeling really anxious and low. Nfk your calling it The Pit is so true. That's exactly how it feels when you can't see a way out. ((Huggs)) to anyone who is having a hard time at the moment.

Agus Thu 20-Nov-14 18:38:05

DH had a good chuckle reading your Rules pompa. He has printed off this page and no doubt they will be sent to his like minded friends. All 5 of themgrin

NfkDumpling Thu 20-Nov-14 18:17:36

Thank you for the Rules Pompa (my favourites numbers 2 and 5). I'm printing them out to pin on the loo door.

(((Hugs))) and courage to all of you who're in The Pit at the moment. flowers

pompa Thu 20-Nov-14 16:08:01

Mishap chronicling you achievements sounds like a great idea, extremely positive.

annodomini Thu 20-Nov-14 15:40:05

pompa, thanks for you rules for life. I will copy them for future reference. grin

Mishap Thu 20-Nov-14 14:43:53

I know how you feel - if the boat operator had followed his own protocols I would never have fallen and broken my foot, which will never be totally better. But it is no good dwelling on it - therein lies madness.

I like the comment about the wheelie bin - that truly does sum it up!

Agus Thu 20-Nov-14 14:36:16

Mishap I was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and accept that comes with age but what angers me is, in my case, someone else's thoughtlessness and negligence has resulted in such a change to my life. However, I have just got to get on with it now but it does make it a bit harder to accept.

To quote DH, our wheelie bin goes out more than we do now grin

That's it Galen so many things we can no longer do. Even the smallest thing ie I can no longer bend enough to put my own socks on. For someone who is very independent and not good at asking others for help it's taking me a while to change my attitude and accept that sometimes I do need help.
