I was surprised when my daughter had stitches after the birth of her first child that the hospital told her to bathe using lavender oil [I'd assumed she'd use salt which is what I'd used], so it must be very healing/antiseptic. As far as diet goes, I try to incorporate turmeric in as many recipes as possibe, as it has anti inflammatory properties. Then, of course there's my favourite 'Vicks Vapour rub on the soles of my feet when I have a cough'.

Marmight, sorry I meant cinnamon. I've bought some this morning from Morrison's so will try it on tomorrow's porridge with honey.

Cinnamon mixed with honey, I make it one table spoon honey to half teaspoon cinnamon makes a good throat reliever taken at one teaspoon three times a day.

Sherish - cinnamon or lavender oil? grin

I would like to put this in my porridge but I'm not sure how much. Is it a pinch or a teaspoon? I know it is probably according to taste.

I've had a fungal nail infection for approx. 7 yrs. It has spread to 3 toes. I have tried several over-the-counter remedies. Obviously no success I also didn't want to use turbinofine on presrcription.

My friend is a homeopathy doctor and she recommended pure lavender oil applied every night for 14 days, then weekly or more if wanted. I was dubious but thought what the hey! I started beginning of Oct. Frequent trimming of nails is also required. Apply with a q tip. To date, method has arrested spread of fungus up nail. It kills it. You can see it. Trimming removes dead nail. New growth looks really healthy.

We mix cinnamon into our porridge every morning but that's just because we like the taste. If it wards off any colds though, that's a bonus. smile

<wonders if cinnamon would be a good addition to choc chunk cookies>

<wanders off still wondering>

My husband and I take echinacea and neither of us has had a cold for years. Swear by it!

I just Googled Langdales Cinnamon as I'd never heard of it. Sounds delicious and, as I'm recovering from the latest bug/cold, I'm going to order some. Anything containing cinnamon is a temptation too far for me smile

I suppose it would matter on correct diagnosis though.
I can get that a bit wrong.

I never thought about using the NHS Choices website as the first point of call.

I consult NHS Choices for comprehensive health advice and information.

Eat a healthy mixed diet and take daily exercise.

If all else fails I see my GP BUT ONLY when all else fails.

My mother avoided doctors. She reckoned if there was anything wrong on the outside then you rub Vaseline on. Anything wrong on the inside needed dark rum. She lived until she was 94.

We always take Langdales Cinnamon in the Winter to ward off colds.
Works for us !

Have Gransnetters got health tips that they are convinced work?

A close relative says that rubbing a good quality olive oil at least once a week on arthritis places, helps with arthritis pain.

Any other tips?
