Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

In Scotland and Northern Ireland there is legislation for carbon monoxide alarms where carbon burning appliances are installed, but not in England and Wales. We think we deserve the same duty of care. We need to get 400 signatures by this evening (only started yesterday morning) and then 38 Degrees will send out the petition to their 2.5m supporters. We only need 62 more signatures. Please sign and share with your friends and families. It's too late to save my daughter's life but it might save your family members and friends. https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/change-the-law-to-prevent-deaths-from-carbon-monoxide-poisoning

I am sorry about your DD.

Our whole family was saved by the smoke alarm during the night many years ago - I understand how important these and CO alarms are.

I have of course signed.

absam1 How very sad. Of course carbon monoxide and also smoke alarms should be fitted everywhere appropriate. I installed both in all my houses but every time there is a gas safety inspection at one of them there is a note that the smoke alarm has been disabled. I think my tenant must cook a lot of chips. I shall sign the petition.

When my husband was alive, we had a free home safety check from the fire brigade. They fitted a new fire and CO alarm for us for nothing. That was at least 3 years ago, so I am not sure if they still do it.
