Topiramate to prevent migraine

Hi Mishap, in the January edition of the magazine from the Migraine Action charity, a lady reported having had great success with magnesium. She originally had been taking the wrong type of magnesium which wasn't working but then read that magnesium glycinate is better absorbed by the body than any other type of magnesium. She has been pain free for 15 months and she knows four other people who have been taking it and it has stopped their migraines as well. As a migraine sufferer myself I have started taking it and am keeping everything crossed. Apparently the recommended dose to start with is 400mg.
Good luck with whatever you do.

Mishap, maybe ask the Migraine clinic about the feverfew herb. It was recommended to me years ago by a doctor at a hospital clinic. It has been a quality of life enhancer for me.

I am delaying launching into it at present as I have so many things lined up this week - caring for GD, physio appt, CBT appt etc and I will need to be capable of driving without feeling at all dozy. I will give it some thought!

Hi Mishap, I took "Topiramate" for 6 weeks a few years ago and had a bad reaction to it, but that was just me!. It caused me to have trouble with my breathing and i have used an inhaler ever since, i can't remember all the reactions but i was in a bit of a state and told my sister when she was offered it not to touch it with a bargepole,
But i was told at the Migraine Clinic it does work for some people, hope that helpssmile.
