Bath or shower - how often ?

I shower every day but I suspect it is not too good for my dry skin.

You are bound to smell a bit unfresh. Eurgh. And a wash at the basin must take up just as much time as a bath or shower. Probably more.

OFGS...ridiculous!

What is being forgotten is the excellent exercise that taking a bath is. As well as the aesthetics of the lovely scented warm water, and the silvery bubbles. And with a bit of piano music on Radio 3.....Ah!!!

And then you get out and give yourself a good old towel off, which gets the blood going. And then there's the bending and stretching of rinsing round the bath itself, and wiping down the tiles. If you do it with the window open, you get fresh air, and the steaminess goes away.

All round, it can be the best part of the day. And you finish up with a delicate perfume on your skin. Who would want to miss it?

And modern day decent quality bath potions do not dry the skin. Having the water too hot would do that though.

You feel claggy without!

I love the proper wet rooms I get in the disabled cabins on my cruises.
I suppose if I i didn't cruise for a couple of years I could afford to get one fitted.
But then, would I be fit enough to cruise after?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 27-Feb-15 20:08:11

Ooh! I hate wet rooms. Work of the devil! And I think they must be unhygienic.

My bathroom is pink. All different warm shades of pink. Except the ceiling which is white. Pink is calming and comforting.

I certainly don't smell "unfresh", because I have a wash!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 27-Feb-15 20:10:24

I think it could be like going back into the womb.

Bubble bath+a drop of bath oil + a good book= bliss, simple soul me!

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 27-Feb-15 20:11:38

Washing's no good. Where does the dirt go? Most if it stays on you.

roastchicken (which, in this instance means 'enders on wind back) hmm

We have a bidet. It sits in solitary unconnected confinement in the attic (we took it out when we re-designed the bathroom but kept it just in case. I did like to soak my feet in it.
I shower most days but don't always wash my hair every day as it has got drier and drier over the years.

If you shower every evening in the summer you wash all that lovely Vitamin D off your skin, so it's best to shower in the morning. And it's nice to start the day fresh.

Sorry - stdavids
(having complained about the lack I must use the stdavids )

stdavids stdavids stdavids = a bunch of daffodils for everyone....I like this emoticon!
A bidet sitting forlornly in the attic....... sad

pompa Fri 27-Feb-15 20:45:54

I feel grubby if I don't shower every day (washing hair ??? what hair). I might leave it till later in the day if I am going to work in the garden, but will fit one in sometime. I can certainly shower as quick as I could wash properly.

rosequartz Fri 27-Feb-15 20:45:54

I feel really guilty now.
There is still room for it
hmm

merlotgran Fri 27-Feb-15 20:47:07

A bidet would be nice for washing your bits but as I said further up the thread, I would need one raised on a plinth. I suggested it to DH who said he'd look out for a second hand drinking fountain. grin

loopylou Fri 27-Feb-15 20:49:28

grin
I remember my mother and father desperately trying to change the subject when we three little girls first saw a bidet and wanted to know what it was for!
We decided it must be a baby bath hmm

rosequartz Fri 27-Feb-15 20:50:54

I could have filled it with stdavids

loopylou Fri 27-Feb-15 20:54:49

You certainly could roseq, it's not too late!

merlotgran Fri 27-Feb-15 20:55:21

Yes!! What a good idea. Fantastic for conditioning flowers when somebody brings you a large bunch to say thank you for having them and you're so rushed you haven't for time (or the space) to do anything with them.

They'd probably still be there when they go home. stdavids

Ana Fri 27-Feb-15 21:00:06

Not sure Vitamin D can be 'washed off' your skin...confused

loopylou Fri 27-Feb-15 21:01:03

Just might look a little odd sitting in the middle of the kitchen or living room.......

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 27-Feb-15 21:01:17

No. I'm a bit unsure about that. confused
