It is getting better, Montelukast has def helped so thanks to all who persuaded me to give it a go. I'm still quite catarrhal, however, so doc has now suggested adding carbocisteine into the mix to thin it out. ( sorry to those of you with a fragile disposition!) Just wondered if anyone has any experience of it.

Thanks Greenfinch...it's not been the best 20 weeks I've ever had!

I had a return of the cough too, a few weeks ago, but not as bad as before. And didn't last long.
Perhaps we're slowly building up an immunity to whatever it is.
Hope that's the last of it for you.

There have been some really bad hacking coughs around this year and they do seem to have dragged on - mine is just beginning to tail off after about 10 weeks. Crazy. Hope all fellow sufferers will be better soon.

As I have just said in the kitchen my DH has been really ill with the cough virus. He had a headache with his as well. Went on for four plus months. GP took lots of blood that showed serious infection but did not do anything else.

Mishap! Ten weeks?? Crikey, I'm starting week 4 and wondered what was wrong with me. To be fair I have had it a few times now since December but it did leave me with a few short "well" intervals, so I suppose it could be 20 weeks since it started.
Does anyone find that they feel absolutely drained? I had to sit down on a chair in John Lewis yesterday while shopping with baby granddaughters. I felt like an old lady ( I'm only 75 shock ) ! before the onset of coughing I was doing twice weekly Pilates and playing football with my 2 year old grandson. Now I can hardly stand!! I did have a chest xRay two years ago for another similar episode, plus bloods taken, and didn't want to bother the GP this time round. Katek I've just noticed you say 20 weeks for your bug. We just need some long summer days I think. Hope you are all feeling much better soon smile

Brendawymms. Just seen your post. So it seems as though this is "normal". I hope he feels better soon. Headaches with it must be awful.
