Of acute pulmonary oedema, we have just heard.
She hadn't seen her consultant for four years for her kidney condition
She probably wasn't taking her potassium pills.
We didn't know she was risking her life. She probably didn't.
.....and I am really angry.

There is a black hole in the middle of our family.

But what I really want to say is that although the condition she had is very rare (Gitelman's Syndrome, if you want to look it up) that I have found there is a similar risk in people with heart conditions who are taking some diuretics.

We should have known that she was at risk. From what I find, this is only recently realised by the medical profession about GS patients - there may be only 1500 in Britain. I don't know if heart patients are warned.
I feel this should be better known.

Thanks for good wishes folks.

Yes phoenix I remember the dreams being mentioned...I think I know now where these came from, I just needed to mull them over and use a little detective work to see what they were about.....then the extreme emotional stuff fades away. It was bad when I woke up, but they didn't look at all the stuff of nightmares, very strange.

anno I know things are improving slowly. Three months now. I also know it takes a long while....I'll get there, be able to live with it.

Alie m,dear, I've had the "dreams" thing (I think I may have mentioned this before, maybe in a PM? poss. losing the plot!) it is all part & parcel of the whole thing.

I know that you've been through similar stuff before, and know too that you will come out of the other side, but it isn't always a straightforward (in the literal sense) journey. It can be a couple forward, then the odd one back. We can't control it, we just have to be prepared to roll with it as it comes.

Much love to you, as always.

R.

Alie, if you've had one really good day, there's every chance that you will have more good days and with increasing frequency. It will take time and a lot of rest because you have been really ill and very stressed as well as dealing with a nasty chronic condition. If you fell asleep after lunch it was because you needed it. Besides, it's perfectly normal for us 'oldies' to catnap - I do!

You can do it - you have been doing so well. flowers

Yes it was a good day but I was very tired yesterday and even fell asleep after lunch....I think I was buoyed up by the Sunday and feeling I had done the right thing and been useful and helped.

But to day I woke up on a real downer after very strange dreams, felt awful.
However, I needed to get out of that mood, got myself out, sent a book to K which may help.
I discovered years ago that the only way to deal with depression is to fight it, when Jayne's brother died.....now i need to do it all over again......
Still very tired though.

Good news Alie. So pleased that you had a good time with the family today and the baby sounds delightful. Glad you are feeling so much fitter. Maybe the enforced rest did you some good.

Lovely post from you Allie - glad you're feeling better and that the new car is helping. smile

Great news Allie, it sounds like a positive day. Antibiotics are only prescribed when we need them and they always make us feel worse than the illness they're curing did. Sending positive thoughts flowers

I went to Oxford today and paid a surprise visit to K, taking the makings of Sunday dinner. Sister L was there and we cooked dinner with K helping, and he actually ate properly today.
Baby is lovely and just about crawling, will be into everything soon!

A good day and I enjoyed the drive back in new car...have not been enjoying driving the old one.

NfkDumpling Sat 25-Jul-15 07:43:26

The best thing - apart from going out for lunch with my sister and partner - is that I am feeling much better physically since my birthday....maybe as I have finished the antibiotics?
I have actually had some energy and mowed half my lawns before it started on the rain!

Iam64 Tue 21-Jul-15 20:15:44
