Well I won't be buying one then!! Thank you all for your thoughts, helped me decide x

It would not immediately henetha but over time, it would loosen. It is something which I think should be added as a contraindication to using it, albeit briefly, especially as not many people know this fact.

I'm glad you warned us, Charleygirl. I had been thinking of getting one but shan't now. I would hate my artificial knee to fall apart.

DH is diabetic and bought one of the vibration feet thingys, different speeds etc. It can't have been up to much because...... idle for about 2 years.

My friend always says.....look at what is in a charity shop or a boot sale, it's a good guide as to what not to buy.

If you have had joint replacements please do not use one of those machines that vibrate because over time the new joint may loosen- not good!

Jbf. You are so funny grin

Not that I usually wear a Tena Lady! Just that one would have been useful at that time. smile

You can get huge home fitness machines where you stand on the platform and it vibrates like hell. I tried one in John Lewis once - without a Tena Lady! shock I hopped off sharpish.

Are you sure your sister doesn't mean those 'foot spa' things? [they always have those at car boot sales]

annodomini Sun 09-Aug-15 20:24:36

Exactly what I was thinking of doing!

aggie Sun 09-Aug-15 20:15:55

My Sister says they get these donated to the charity shop she volunteers in , especially after New Year , presumably unwanted Christmas presents

Tegan Sun 09-Aug-15 19:53:13

I think they sometimes have them on offer at Boots so might be worth keeping an eye open for offers. Also they say that if you have a medical condition that requires you to use one you can have the VAT taken off. Must say I've often wondered what they're like as I have awful varicose veins and assume the circulation in my legs isn't too good. I'd imagine they're quite relaxing.

annodomini Sun 09-Aug-15 19:02:37

I have a foot massager that fits your description but don't use it very often. If my feet are cold, I put on some fleecy socks.

Luckygirl Sun 09-Aug-15 18:44:41

I have a static cycle, which is basically used whilst siting on a chair. The only problem with it is that it makes my knees hurt!

tanith Sun 09-Aug-15 18:36:06

We have one and its lovely for tired feet but don't think it improves any medical condition.

Anne58 Sun 09-Aug-15 18:16:23

Just a thought, and it might be way out of line, if so, please do forgive me.

I have seen some things that you sort of "pedal" in a circular motion (perhaps a bit like how you would with a pedalo boat?) whilst sitting down. They seem to be marketed as an extra exercise option, but I could be wrong.

nanpug, even though you have back problems, do you think that ^^ sort of thing might be an option?

(Just let me finish the ironing that I said I was coming upstairs to do blush and I'll have a quick Google)

Ana Sun 09-Aug-15 18:15:48

If you want it mainly to keep your feet warm, with a bit of (possible) circulation stimulation as well they sound OK - apparently they don't get too hot but just keep your feet at a comfortable temperature.

nanapug Sun 09-Aug-15 18:09:55

That is interesting, thank you. I would do exercise shabby but have such a dreadful back that sadly I can't sad

Luckygirl Sun 09-Aug-15 18:06:21

A friend lent me hers - I found it a bit pointless to be honest, although I appreciated the kindness.

tinaf1 Sun 09-Aug-15 18:04:43

I used to have one too but like shabby didn't see any improvement .

shabby Sun 09-Aug-15 17:51:27

Yes I have one but I didn't really see any improvement in circulation or swollen legs and ankles which was the reason I bought it. I would try exercise. Once I started to do yoga and pilates the circulation in my feet and legs definitely improved.

nanapug Sun 09-Aug-15 16:07:26

Does any one have one of those buzzy things you put your feet on to help the circulation? If so how do you rate it and what make is it please? My feet are often like blocks of ice of an evening so wondered if it would help.
