My DS and I have had another run in this afternoon and a very kind policeman has had a word. Verbal attacks again.

Anyway, he did suggest to the teen to do some volunteering for St. John's Ambulance as he wants to work in this field when he gets older.

Has anyone any experience of how he sould go about it or if you know anyone who is in it already? I'm at a loss, don't know anything about them really. smile

Hi Ruby smile have a google on "doit.co.uk" it is a volunteer website, you can reg if you want, put in your postcode and select your interests, it then comes up with any vacancies, some of the posts are a bit out of date but I'm sure St Johns Ambulance is amongst them or they were round my area.

I only know about this site as the Jobcenter has made!! me register and look for volunteer work ! well no not quite! made me but made it plain they think that's is my first port of call for getting me back into work!! and to keep getting my fortnightly "spending money" smile

Hi Rubylady this link might help www.sja.org.uk/sja/young-people/cadets.aspx

My son was in St Johns for a short while, before he started his paramedic training. It looks good on the cv if he wants to go into that field later, they will be looking for him to have done some voluntary work. .

He should contact his local group, go along to weekly meetings, and no doubt they'll give him training on the basics of first aid to start with. They attend events such as music festivals, country shows etc, being on hand to help .

Thank you ladies, he's off to see someone about it tomorrow, well, hopefully. It says there is somewhere in town to go to on google and maps but we'll see, I do hope so seeing as he's trying to sort it out himself. (Well, with our help too grin.)
