Coccyx pain

I got it after going cycling the other day - the first time for 53 years!

I also get a dull ache all across my lower back and radiating down my legs - \I've had it for years and notice it happens more in cold, damp weather and also often precedes getting some sort of cold or infection. I find paracetamol helps.

Yes, that's it exactly Nelliemoser - the pain of standing from sitting is eye-watering. It's not all the time but sitting on a hard chair or for far too long can set me back. Painkillers really help but it's not a cure but I might think about acupuncture. I don't think I'd consider an op if, like my knees, it will heal on its own in time...sometimes surgery just makes a thing worse!

Ouch very painful! I am not sure how mine developed but it was B painful when standing up from sitting.
I was having acupuncture for tension headaches at the time and my accupuncturist just stuck a few extra needles in me and heated a small pile of moxa herbs over the tender bit. It started improving right away and I only had about three weekly sessions of that. I have no idea why/how it worked but it did.

I agree and maybe a referral to an orthopaedic consultant. You may need steroid injections. You want somebody who deals specifically with backs, not an all rounder.

I had this many, many years ago and it was so bad I couldn't work. I went into hospital to have it manipulated which helped a bit but they said it would get better when I had a baby! I wasn't even married. It did eventually go away but I think you should talk to your GP about it.

I don't get coccyx pain (unless I sit for long periods) but I do get a pain in my left hip which I've had for some years.
I've found the best cure for it is walking - very briskly! - which I try to do at least 30 mins a day
