Gillybob I was wondering about how your had gone on as well. Maybe being near a fan dried up the normal moisture in your eye a bit too much?

There are some standard Hypromellose eye drops which you can buy cheaply over the counter which help.
and more expensive ones.
So I with that reminder I will now pop up stairs to put my Timoptil anti glaucoma eyedrops in for the day.

Thank you for your replies everyone. I visited my local boots pharmacy on Saturday afternoon (looking a picture I can tell you) . Suggested I rub in some Golden Eye ointment although not sure what I was supposed to rub it into as my eye was not sore or red, just very swollen. I sat most of Saturday and Sunday with compresses on my eye. Tried cold then hot which seemed to help more. Still swollen on Monday but a little better yesterday.

I am wondering if I could have gotten a cold in my eye due to sleeping a few feet away from my fan (laughing hysterically as I typed that, silly person that I am) a fan, that I use to combat the awful night sweats.

Thank you all for your concern. I tried moving the fan further back and turning it up but don't tell DH last night. My eye is still a tiny bit swollen but lots better. Thank you all again you lovely lot. X

Gillybob I am hoping you have already done something about it. Let us know how you get on.

Yes, get it checked out by a medic, can't mess about with eyes. I once went to bed with a very painful eye, convinced it's be better in the morning. It wasn't and by the time I arrived at the Eye Unit I was in danger of losing the sight in that eye. It's probably made me over cautious smile

Always a good idea to get eyes checked out by a professional. Hope it clears up soon.

Gillybob I had something similar a couple of years ago, plus bruising. My GP checked me over and found nothing. I also went to the optician and got the all-clear. No idea of the cause and it hasn't happened since. What worried me was that I didn't think the doctor believed that I hadn't been hit shock - I hadn't!

May be worth seeing an optician just to put your mind at rest.

I wonder if anyone can help me. I woke up this morning with a very swollen eye. The lid is about twice it's normal size and underneath is very swollen too. It's not sore or red just very swollen. I have been sitting with a cold compress on it for most of the morning which has helped a little bit but still very swollen. Any ideas?

DH swears he did not punch me during the night
