When I was about 7 I started to get sick , and spent about one week in 4 off school. Mum was told I had acidosis, and was told to take glucose tablets, and honey, both of which I cannot stand now. I used to spit out the glucose tabs and hide them in a tin under the bed.

I never really got an answer why I was afflicted with it , even the net now does not explain it fully.

Anyone else out there suffer from that as a child. I am just reading a book and the author mentions it. I cant remember when I out grew it. When I was ill my Mum went up to the nearby hotel to ask for the Dr to visit as he always came in for his morning drop of tincture.

My husband had acidosis as a child in the late 40s. He couldn't eat fruit, fish and fats. As a result of the restrictions on what he could eat he developed rickets and had to wear callipers on his legs at night. The end result is that he is 5' 10" tall but should clearly have been 6' 3" as he has a very long back and short legs.
