Painful Bladder

Thank you all for your suggestions, the pills I'm having are darifenacin but they do have some side effects including confusion so I'm reluctant to continue them long term! I'm going to persevere short term as they do otherwise improve matters. I've told Mr. Eggy not to let anyone diagnose me with alzheimers before considering it may be the pills. We're off on holiday next week so will reconsider when we get back.

I know it's not cystitis, but I asked Gnetters for advice on cystitis and I got some suggestions which may just help you. I've only just started on it, but it's called D-Mannose and the blurb says it's for UTI's and bladder discomfort. Take a look at

So far I've only taken four tabs, so it's early days for me. I too have given up tea and coffee, citrus and tomatoes among other things. I find camomile tea soothing.

Another product I've been taking which may just help you is a probiotic for women called Optibac, although there are others similar.

Has the GP mentioned a pessary of Estraderm? It's to improve the tissues of the vagina. As we get older it dries out and causes discomfort. It may be worth investigating.

I know how miserable it is to have persistent discomfort, hopefully someone will come up with a solution soon. Take care.

In some areas there are specialist womens health clinics for this sort of problem. It's time you got some better information from someone with expertise in these conditions. Not all GPs do have this expertise, you might be better off with a nurse specialist.

I had similar problems and by trail and error found that if I eat wheat drink ordinary tea .De caffinated or earl grey seem ok .The other issue for me was yeasts in my urine which showed up in a test.I have been able to achieve stability ,it's an unpleasant place .I'm hoping that you can find a solution .

Hi, Do you mind me asking what the medication is? If the condition becomes worse when you stop taking the tablets, why do you want to stop taking then?

Does a hot water bottle help at nightime, near the affected area?

I haven't had a coffee for 6 months and mostly drink camomile tea - also given up cooked tomatoes and orange juice.

Try cutting down on tea and coffee, and drink more water instead, it wirks for me!
