Has any body had this and can give me some advice? By the time I have jumped through all the hoops I shall be 80, so it is quite a daunting prospect.

I hope it goes well for you.
I damaged my right shoulder due to a fall, but have never had a replacement suggested. It's sometimes painful, and I stick my elbow in the air when lifting a cup etc.
Eldest son had a shoulder operation after a fall, but I don't think that was a replacement either - Sorry!

Anyone recent experience of shoulder replacement? I have been advised that it the only treatment for severe O. A . This will have to be private treatment, no hope of getting it done on N.H S unfortunately
I am in my 80s, would appreciate comments

I’m interested in this topic. I have shoulder problems - can’t raise my arm right up or turn it to the back of my head, for eg if I want to scratch my head. Been to see a Physio, not much help - a steroid injection was suggested, because I just don’t wish to go under the knife. Can someone please tell me, at which point, did you decide to go for a replacement ?
