Can anyone recommend a good shampoo for an itchy scalp ( not all over my head but certain areas irritate like mad) I have used T Gel ages ago but it does smell a bit like Jeyes Fluid wanted something a bit gentle

Me too but an all over irritation.

Holland and Barrett tea tree shampoo. Not cheap but effective.

I had the same problem, tina. Betnovate Scalp Lotion is what cured my itching. You might need a prescription for it, but it really is good.

T Gel is available in a sensitive version which I don't think smells as strong. Have used it myself and it works well.

I was prescribed Capasal for the same symptoms.
Tea tree oil or a good tea tree shampoo might help otherwise.

I use Philip Kingsley shampoo for itchy scalps a and he does a scalp tonic. They have really worked well for me

I second Nvella it's not cheap but it doesn't strip your hair,( important if you've paid a fortune at the hairdressers) and it works for my sister and me

Aveda shampure. Expensive but very good and you don't need to use much. You can order off Internet

Do try to avoid any shampoos or conditioners that contain the preservative methylchloroisothiazolinone as it causes scalp irritation and itchiness. I had skin tests done to identify the cause of my life-long scalp problems, and I am now itch free. I use Body Shop Rainforest Radiance shampoo and conditioner, which are free of MCI.

I'd ask your GP the cause of the itchy scalp - if its psoriasis or something similar, you're better well informed.

That's good you are seeing your GP about the itchy scalp. My GP told me it was probably to my thyroid and ordered more tests.

Always best to check.

My long term very itchy scalp was miraculously cured when I stopped having my hair dyed. I'm now half way to losing the dye and becoming grey all over, which is not a good look but it's worth it to have lost the itches. As a bonus, I can now wear black tops which have been out of the question for years.
