DD going to have CT scan on gums

You must be so worried . Haven't had this experience, though I've just had to have a bridge removed because of severe gum infection, will have to have a double implant in a couple of months. It's horrible, but nothing like your worries. ??

Cherrytree the hospital should have sent a report back to your DD's dentist, and strictly speaking to your DD too.
If they haven't explained things properly to your DD at the hospital, I would get an appointment with her dentist and ask him or her what is going on - they should be able to explain it to you.

If they thought it was really serious the CT scan would be done sooner. Try not to worry.

My DH had cysts removed from his jaw a few years ago, he's fine, try not to worry I think it's quite common. (flowers)

My D had a cyst in her gum over her front teeth. It became infected so many times she had to have her front tooth removed to her dismay. She is waiting for it to heal to see if she can have an implant but her dentist thinks the damage to her bone through the infection may not make that possible. If I haven't got that entirely correct I hope the dentists will forgive me, I don't remember what I am told always now.

I have a friend who had to have several teeth removed because of a cyst. This was many years ago. She was understandably terribly upset as she'd always looked after her teeth and they were lovely and white and even. However, the surgery took place, she had a very unobtrusive metal plate fitted with false teeth to fill the gap and she has never looked back. She always said it was a classic case of anticipation being so much worse than realisation.
Please try not to worry - as others have said, I'm sure there would not be this delay if they thought there was anything sinister going on.

Ann I had a similar thing on a front tooth - I have had a successful implant, but had bone augmentation first to fill in the defect, and only had the implant done after the new bone was sound - I waited nearly a year before getting the implant placed and had a removable partial denture during that time.

Sorry Jane only just caught up. Would that bone augmentation be the same process that my GD had to fiil in on her jaw as part of the work done on her cleft palate? I find that quite interesting. Last Thursday she had 3 veneers fitted on the teeth that came on that graft which never grew properly. I think modern dentistry is wonderful and all on the NHS.
