I've always loved dreaming. What I found strange and interesting was that when I was badly depressed, I never felt down when I was dreaming. How do I know that? BecAuse I remember my dreams. Did it indicate that It ywas my life circumstances making me depressed and that I wasn't intrinsically depressed? Always questioning everyfink.
Nicotine patches give one vivid dreams.

I suffered vivid dreams which I acted out, climbing on to dressing table and running downstairs, this was before I started on meds that cause weird dreams. After certain drugs I had horrible nightmares too.

My mother had Lewy Body Disease which is a dementia illness closely related to Parkinsons. One of her first symptoms was violent dreams re-enacted - she would throw herself about the bed.

My OH has PD and he enacts his dreams - he tried to screw my arm off once when fighting off some demon in his dream! - but he is on some medication for it now and I get a night's sleep!

So yes, this can be a symptom of PD or dementia.

Sorry Cath9 but not sure what you mean when you say This can lead to Parkinsons or demenia ? Do you mean Anxiety or going to Uni leads to P or D ? It sounds a bit worrying if the person is hurting themselves or someone else regardless of bad dreams . How are you trying to help ? and would an appointment with the GP be a better option . Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick x

Is it something to do with medication? Some meds can cause such dreams

Hi,
Is anyone getting extremely severe dreams at night, so much so that they don't realize they are sometimes hurting themselves or their partner?

Why I ask is because I am trying to help a person close to me who has suddenly started to experience such dreams. There is no trouble with anxiety, in fact the person was the only one to get to university when one had to achieve Grade As or Bs to get to Uni. They do say this can lead to Parkinson disease or Dementia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
