Ps - and all on the NHS!

I had cataracts operated on in both eyes a few months ago - can't tell you how wonderful it is not to wear glasses or lenses after 60 years of short sight. The procedure wasn't bad at all except that you are awake so it's a bit scarey but I recovered really quickly and 5 months later everything is perfect!

My husband had a similar problem macular degeneration in one eye, which has been treated and stopped, but the sight is not so good, and last year he had to have the cataract in the good eye sorted out. He too was worried in case the cataract operation was not successful, and I think the optician made him really concerned, however the hospital were marvellous, and the operation went smoothly, he does however have problems with close work, but that is just probably one of those things which happen, and nothing to do with the cataract.

Thanks, Iam64. Yes it's my good eye, hence my fear of losing my sight in that eye.

Is the cateract on your good eye? I have longstanding eye problems and cateracts on both eyes, one significantly reducing sight, My optician said it needs removing by an expert because of underlying problems in the eye. My go referred me to a private provider, said to be the best in our area. The NHS is footing the bill because our NHS specialist unit has such long waiting lists. Go and see your gp water meadow and ask for a referral to your eye unit.
