Don't go to a Technician unless they are Clinical Dental Technicians.

I had all my top teeth out and a couple of years later all my bottom teeth. Both times I came round from the anaesthetic with the dentures in and strict orders to keep them in 24/7 except for cleaning and rinsing my mouth out with salty water. About a year afterwards I had both the dentures re-lined and have now worn them for 35 years with no problems whatsoever.

I was able to speak and eat normally from day one each time (except for soft lettuce which tends to plaster itself to the top plate)hmm You should not still be having problems with your dentures - temporary or permanent - Get back to your Dentist or Dental Technician and tell'm to get it sorted grin

I should have explained that immediate dentures are provided so the patient doesn't have to go around with no teeth or big gaps. If the dentures weren't immediate the patient could be without teeth for possibly 3 months depending on healing times. And the gums could still shrink more during the early period, requiring new dentures.

It is quite common to have temporary immediate dentures after extractions but it sounds as though you could definitely do with a rethink. They would have been new jenty.

Not long had all my top teeth out and had a denture. Gone private. Dentist said to try to wait a year before having a new permanent denture made giving chance for the gums to heal. I've been back a couple of times for adjustments. From day one I cant bite or chew well, so my foods are soft. My front teeth don't meet so cant even bite into a soft sandwich, and my back teeth can chew soft foods but don't manage hard foods, they are not meeting well. My real front bottom teeth touch the roof of my mouth. My dentist says it will all improve when I get my permanent denture after my gums have settled down. They look good , so much better than my old horrid real teeth. My concern is that I think I should have been able to bite into foods with a temporally denture. I just think the dental term have made a bad job. The dentist doesn't seem concerned saying this is normal due to the amount of teeth I had removed and because of the gums changing and healing. Have any of you experienced this with your temporally first denture?
