Ganglions

DH had one by his ankle too. It didn't bother him at all but I hated the look of it. And it moved in an odd way when he touched it.
I used to threaten him with the Bible treatment but he ignored me.
After a few years it just sort of popped and disappeared. He just has a small red mark where it used to be.

My daughter had one on her ankle which her shoes rubbed against. It was drained and filled up again in a week and then removed. She would have been about 3 and has no scar at all. Perhaps young skin heals well.

DGD was preschool, I saw her frequently and one visit there was an unobtrusive scar instead of the ganglion on her wrist. The ganglion on her leg, about 4 years later, less obvious as she always wore trousers, was not even mentioned until after it had been removed. She certainly was lucky!

My brother's scar is partially obscured by his watch-not that it bothers him or anyone else really. The medics did leave his wrist in a bit of a mess though.

Elred someone asked me if a bicycle had run over my hand once ! the scar goes from one side to the other and all the stitch marks show so looks like a tyre track Lol . I remember being so ill after and my arm was black up to the elbow . I have had MANY ops since including having ribs removed which were a piece of cake in comparison .

f77ms and Katek. I'm quite shocked, it seems that oldest DGD was very lucky, twice. She's over 20 now and her scars have never been noticeable at all. They are just a small slight line of paler skin.

My brother had the surgery as a child - twice! It came back after first op. He's also been left with an unsightly S shaped scar.

I think I am right in saying, it is one of those things that goes away in it's own time[about two years] whatever you try doing to it.

I had one on the back of my wrist when I was young , it used to be sore sometimes but then would recede and be ok for a while. I had it removed because my X husband said it made him feel queasy ! it was the most painful operation I have had and my wrist still has a huge scar ( it looks like one of those scars you can buy from a joke shop I would not recommend having it done unless it becomes very painful. Bashing it with a heavy book can sometimes work I believe . Sorry I don`t mean to scare monger but my scar is worse than the ganglion !

I had one on the upper side of my left wrist many years ago which made it difficult to wear my watch. GP aspirated it and I've never had a recurrence.

I had one when I was a teenager, I believe as a result of all the gymnastics I did. The GP told me to get someone to wallop it with a book, I didn't take his advice and it went of it's own accord. I know people who had operations but they were left with discomfort and they did return.

Looking after small GD I was walking downstairs with her and realised there was a lump on her wrist. I was horrified. I thought I'd somehow hurt her and showed her mother who said she'd had it a while. The doctor said it was a ganglion and it was removed. Several older people told us that ganglions used to be whacked with a Family Bible. A few years later one near her knee was also removed.

I had a couple as a child and, yes, my DM bashed them with a heavy book It worked and they dispersed

My DD had one on her wrist for several years, but then it started to cause her pain when typing, which at the time was a big part of her job, so she saw her GP, who referred her. It was another 2 years before she was booked in for surgery, followed by a few weeks recovery before she was able to use that hand. She's never had any trouble since.
Yes, she was advised by lots of people to smack it hard with a heavy book, or even a hammer, but she never summoned up the courage!

Was it a Bible

My mother had one on the top of her foot - on the arch where my younger sister used to stand on her feet all the time. One day something heavy fell on it and dispersed it - it all went and she had no trouble any more.
