This is a reassuring thread for me and comment from mumofmadboys - I had a similar "bruise" on my foot the other day just where my shoe fits across the top of the foot. It was weird because I knew I hadn't bruised my foot in any way, so I was puzzled as to what it was. It faded as explained.

Thank you all for the reassurances. Yes I am on several medications after a heart attack, but not sure about blood thinners confused. This morning it is a lot better, but still tingles. Yes, I am ageing, had a birthday whilst away, and I said that after our alotted three score years and ten, everything falls apart. At least, that's what it feels like, but I was out yesterday with DD and DGD, and we had a lovely girly day.smile

I have had that before my wedding ring was getting too tight, I got the ring off and had it sized up and the bruising didn't happen again.

Auntieflo I hope you're reassured by momb, this happens to me often and the bruising soon fades away.

It is caused by small veins getting fragile as you age and they can spontaneously rupture. It will gradually fade and disappear like a bruise. Nothing to worry about.( I am a retired GP)

I am no medic but are you on blood thinners?
I think as we age we are more prone to weaker blood vessels and bruise more easily.

This was my finger this afternoon. It started out as a small ' bruise' near the joint on my right hand ring finger, and has spread from joint to finger tip. I have not hurt it anyhow, but I have had it happen before in other joints , always on my hands. Does anyone know why it happens please?
