I've recently joined a support group for PA and B12 deficiency and am surprised by some of the things I'm learning. I've had PA for about 10 years and experience various symptoms (exhaustion, gastritis) But I'm now finding out that many people are self injecting more often than the 'every 3 months' prescribed, by buying Cobalamin from abroad because they say a) the B12 injection only lasts in your system for 48 hours and b) it costs less than 60p a shot. So why aren't we able to get it more often on the NHS? I would be very nervous of going down the SI route myself. Anyone got any opinions on this? My practice nurse and GP are very cagey about answering these queries!
