Hysteroscopy

Its not painful as such its more like a period pain, and a tad uncomfortable and possibly some light bleeding after. It is painful however if a biopsy is taken during the procedure without an anaesthetic.

Another one here who found it more uncomfortable than painful and that only for a short time. Just a little bleeding and an immediate diagnosis of polyps which were dealt with under a GA soon after.

I will have to have a biopsy but don't know if I can stand the pain, but then a general anaesthetic for me is going to be complicated because of other issues. I am post menopausal and so everything down there is quite uncomfortable anyway, due to atrophy.

My sister has just had this done and was told she should just take a painkiller before she went, she got a second opinion from a female doctor who said it should be GA. When she woke she had extreme pain and had to be given analgesia through the drip, she says she was pleased not to have listened to the male surgeon.

I had this some years ago following some post menopausal bleeding. I was apprehensive but found the procedure to be no more than slightly uncomfortable. Polyps were diagnosed much to my relief. Please don't be too worried about this, I'd happily have another tomorrow if it was necessary, without any apprehension.

I had one of these to detect a possible polyp. I am quite brave but I couldn't hack this. I really think that a local should be given. I suppose it does depend on where the cells are gathered from. Mine seemed quite high up and I was in tears. My husband was on the other side of the curtain and was getting quite distressed. I read an article in the newspaper shortly after where a reader had said it was one of the inhumane things she had endured. I have to agree.
