Just been informed that my knee has 'reached the end of the line'. Need replacement. Am devastated and really worried about it all. Any positive info welcome.

Just walked round the room. Its a start. Still feeling very sedated.

I hope today is a better day for you Jane. I feel guilty for painting such a positive picture of my own experience, but it really was like that, I wasn't just trying to make you feel ok about it.
I hope things improve and that it is onward and upwards from now on.

Deedaa I ma top of that queue for the same reasons.

Morphine pump was no good to me because it just made me sick. Luckily after a couple of days I was down to a few paracetamol.
At least in the future I shall know not to let them give me morphine for anything!

This will pass - I had pain relief problems after my hip replacement and felt very down to begin with - but it did get sorted in the end; and the acute pain is short-lived. Hang on in there. flowers

Hope you stop being sick and you feel better soon Jane flowers

granjura Thu 27-Oct-16 17:07:44

Won't be long until you feel better flowers x

Morphine pumps are luvly, mind you when MrsP visited me, she went home again as I was so spaced out.

Jane10 Thu 27-Oct-16 16:52:11

No they don't use them here. Och.

Jalima Thu 27-Oct-16 15:02:38

Have you got a morphine pump which you can activate yourself?
Wonderful, you can't overdose because you nod off and drop it before you can give yourself too much.

Jane10 Thu 27-Oct-16 14:58:46

I seem to have pain relief problems too. Keep being sick , falling asleep and shivering.

Charleygirl Thu 27-Oct-16 12:38:20

jane10 you appear to be doing so well, especially if the physio is pleased, that takes some work!

henetha reading what you have been up to I feel a total wimp as it took me so much longer. Admittedly I had mega problems getting the pain relief sorted and it never was- I have a reaction to morphine, that was my problem. I may tattoo that on my forehead.

Nelliemoser Thu 27-Oct-16 12:03:21

jane10 Well done. There's a lot of Gnrs here who have had this. Not me but the thread is encouraging.

Jane10 Thu 27-Oct-16 11:27:14

Henetha you're an inspiration. Physio s just been. Says my pre op exercises have been very useful. Phew.

henetha Thu 27-Oct-16 11:11:49

Hi Jane10,
Thinking of you and wishing you well. Every day now you will feel a bit better... and better... Isn't it great that it is all over and you can look forward to getting better and stronger and back to normal.
3 weeks since mine and I am doing well. Out walking every day and doing all my own chores and cooking now.
The very best of luck for a speedy return to normal.

Jane10 flowers
Hope the staff are lovely and have cleaned you up!
I don't know if you've eaten anything, but after lots of pills on an empty tummy I'm not surprised that you threw up. The after-effects of anaesthetic can make you feel queasy too!

Hope they're taking good care of you

Jane10 Thu 27-Oct-16 10:58:37

Just threw up during a bed bath! From taking no meds I seem to be given so many that I'm rattling with pills. No physio yet.

Bellanonna Thu 27-Oct-16 10:15:01

And you might find it difficult!
Well done, Jane. Lovely to hear from you and to know it's all over. Onwards and upwards. Keep us posted.

SueDonim Thu 27-Oct-16 01:01:28

*feeling, not fleeing. That would be silly after going through the op. smile

SueDonim Thu 27-Oct-16 01:00:14

Oh gosh, you're Gransnetting from a hospital bed! I hope you're fleeing the benefit of the new knee v soon. Do take all the painkillers on offer! flowers

Well the deed is done. I'm lying among what seems like a tangle of wires and staff come and do things to me.

Auntieflo Wed 26-Oct-16 22:20:51

Jane, wishing you well after your new knee has been installed. I had my knee replaced last December, with a general anaesthetic. I had opted for a spinal block, after it was recommended. But after two goes, that didn't work, I ended up with the general. I didn't like to post this before your op, as I didn't want to put you off. wink

Luckygirl Wed 26-Oct-16 22:06:57

Looking forward to hearing it all went well for you - the next few days will be the biggest challenge but take heart from all those who have gained so much from their surgery.

Deedaa Wed 26-Oct-16 21:37:53

Hope it all went well Jane Get a good night's rest in preparation for all those exercises smile

Charleygirl Wed 26-Oct-16 10:28:09

All the very best for today. It can only get better from now on but you will have to do a lot of hard work as you are aware.flowers
